Brad, Button, or Bow

Hi all, happy Saturday. We have a new challenge for you at Wee Memories. This week we are sponsored by the fabulous Jay Gee's Nook and our challenge theme is brad, button, or bow. You don't have to use all three on your project, as long as you use one of them.

And, here's my card for this challenge.

Actually, this card is one of my publication reject, but I still love it. Check out what the DT created for this challenge HERE.

And, I want to say a quick thank you to those who already started in sending their cards for Cards That Care. You are awesome and Jennifer and I really appreciate your support & generosity. I updated the post as prizes coming in, so check it often. Wishing you all a super duper fun weekend!

May Arts & ADFD

Have a couple projects to share with you today. First is a mini memory keeper I made for May Arts. This week May Arts is teaming up with Creative Imaginations and the DT get to play with gorgeous papers and Luminarte paints.

This was  my first time playing with Luminarte and I love them! You use them just like you use watercolor paint and when dry they have this gorgeous shimmering finish. Here's a peek at my album cover. For  the rest of the pages and the tutorial, please check out May Arts blog. And remember, when you leave comments there you get entered for the giveaway.

Granted, this is not my typical clean style, but I sure had lots of fun making it. The coloring process is relaxing for me and the result made me feel so artistic. :)

Now, next is a CAS card. No shock there, huh? For this card I used the latest releases from A Day For Daisies. I used metallic ribbon for this card as that's the them of the new ADFD challenge "use something metallic".

And, I want to do a quick shout out for my dear friend, Trinh, for being one of the lucky girl that get picked as Paper Crafts WCMD winner! Congrats, Trinh!

Have a blessed Friday everyone!

Audio Book

Recently, I really get into listening to audio book. And, I found out I can focus and follow the story while I am making cards. What a perfect combination. I love it when I can do two things that I love at once. :)

Right now, I am listening to Rick Riordan "The Lost Hero". I am sure many of you with kids, know the Percy Jackson series and this is a continuation of it. I love Greek mythology, so even though this book is aimed at teenagers/young adults, I really get into it. It's fun to read Greek mythology being weaved into current year. And, I found myself laughing out loud a few times while listening to it.

Pretty much I go through 1 audio book a week. Sometimes 2, as I listen during my drive and then continue at home while making cards. I simply love books. It takes me to many wonderful places in my mind.

Now, that I have shared what I am loving at the moment, how about a card I made while listening to the book? :) I made this card using one of my favorite image from Some Odd Girl, "Kimono Kaylee". Yeah... I have several favorites. Can't help it.

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Partytime Tuesdays - Anything Goes

The background paper is from Basic Grey. I think it matched the image well. And, hint.. hint.. Some Odd Girl will have a new series of stamp releasing next week.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

PTI Blog Hop

Quick post before I go to work. :) This morning I was able to make a quick card for Papertrey Ink blog hop. This month we're to make project inspired by this pic.

Inspired by the polka dots pattern and the colors, I made this thank you card with fall colors. It's always good to have thank you cards on hand, don't you think?

I can't wait to see what the others create for this hop. I always find so many cool inspiration during a hop. Thank you for stopping by here. :)

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

I am squeezing a last minute entry for Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger. I've been planning to enter ever since I saw it and finally able to make the card, even though it's so  close to the end. Here's the inspiration pic.

I love the color and the motif on the dress. For my card I stay with the teal and gray combo, although I went with a lighter tone and make this simple and unconventional Christmas card.

I think from here on I'll be making quite a bit of Christmas cards as I plan on making quite a few cards for Cards That Care. In case you don't know what I am talking about, Jennifer McGuire and I are collecting Christmas/Holiday cards for the elderly that lives in nursing homes. It's our goal to bring joy and brighten the season to as many nursing homes as we can. I hope you can join us. For more details on this card drive you can click on the Cards That Care badge on the upper right corner of my blog. :)

Thanks so  much for stopping by here.

Swimming For Katie

Many things makes me feel grateful  to be part of the card making community. One of them is the thoughtfulness of many of the members. I am sure many of you have heard about Katie Renz and her battle with cancer. And many of the card makers band together to help raise fund and offer support for Katie.

Ashley Nguyen Newell is showing her support by running a challenge on her blog and I know I just had to join.

And here's my card using the Octopus from i {heart} papers. I didn't add any other sentiment as the banner that the octopus hold says it all. "Keep swimming", which a saying that I often try to remember myself.

Thank you, Ashley for doing this. And, Katie, I am keeping you and your family in my prayers. Have a blessed day everyone.

Barney

My heart is heavy tonight. I just received email from my sister-in-law in Jakarta saying that most likely they will have to put their dog, Barney, to sleep. Barney been with my brother and SIL since they started their married life 16 years ago. She's such a loyal dog and she adores my brother, Jeff so much. And even though she's a small dog, she's a great watch dog.

Please keep my brother and my SIL, and Barney in your prayer. I know many of you are dog lovers, so you know how dog is part of the family. To Jeff and Gina, I really wish I could be there with you, right now.

This is so hard. No words.

Updated: Barney has gone to doggies heaven and is with her sister Becky. She's such a loving dog. Very expressive, too. She's like a little human. :) I know my brother, Jeff, is feeling the lost right now. I feel the lost as well. Hugging my brother in my heart.

I think for every dog in your family, when they're gone, they took bits of your heart with them and they'll be waiting for us on the other side.

Rest in peace, Barney girl. You've been an amazing dog. We love you.

May Arts & Core'dinations

Here's a look at one of the card:

Check out May Arts blog for the other card and the tutorials. Thanks so much!

Mama & Baby Duck

Yesterday, I mentioned how I've been working hard on submitting for publications and today I am so thrilled to announce that 7 of my cards get picked up for publication. So very thankful. Can't share for what magazine it's for, yet (I am such a tease, aren't I??), that you'll have to wait. :)

I am just so excited that my hard work paid off. And, I got invitation to guest designing for Avocado Arts!!
Simply grateful for all these opportunities. I appreciate them all.

And, I have a sweet card to share with you today. This cute mama & baby duck is courtesy of A Day For Daisies. I know I want this image the moment I saw it.

The baby duck with the big bow stole my heart. She's just too cute! I used Copic marker and Faber-Castell color pencils to color the image. I am entering this card for CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #25 to use color medium.

Wants to see more cute images? Please check out A Day For Daisies for more new releases and fabulous samples by the DT. Have a blessed and happy Friday!

SOG Black & White

After went through a period of creative slump, things finally turned around and for a week or so, I was on a roll. I made about 40 cards. Most were for submission (thus the reason for empty blog) and some were DT works.

Crossing fingers that I can have quite a few projects get picked up. The way I look at it, the harder we work to achieve something, the more satisfying the payoff when it happened, although on the flip side, the chance for heart break could also be higher. But, hey... for anything that worth having you have to work for it, right.

The good thing about the whole thing is that I am loving what I am doing. At the worst, the one that didn't get pickup I can always submit to different magazine and I have cards ready for the blog for when I need it. So, it's kind of win-win situation.

Anyway, one of the card that I  made is this card for Some Odd Girl black and white challenge. You can use colors on your project, except for the image. Honestly, I freaked out a bit when I found out about this challenge. I was intimidated by black and white only coloring. Thank goodness, I have fabulous team mate who has amazing coloring skills, so I can learn from them. :)

I used Sweet Thinkin' Mae and I think for my first attempt, I did pretty good . LOL, yes.. I believe in cheering on myself... its' better than beating on myself. ;)

Check out what my team mate make for this challenge HERE. Don't forget, today is the last day to sign up for Cards That Care blog hop. If you want to get involve email me today. Gotta go. Today I am hanging out with my awesome sister-in-law. Cheers...

Hi all. How are you all doing? Today, I decided to join Market Street Stamp anniversary celebration. I love their stamp and I cannot resist the temptation to play along. :)

So, here's my card using my favorite Market Street Stamps called Slow Movin'.

I actually hand-stitch the snail's body and cover the shell with fine glitters. Here's a close-up of the snail.

Wee Memories Holiday Challenge

Good morning and happy Saturday everyone! It's time for a new Wee Memories challenge and this time our challenge theme is holiday madness. Create any project for any holidays. And our sponsor is one of my favorite company, Lawn Fawn stamps.

At first, I want to make Christmas card. After all I have this Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-Pum set that still in the package, never been used. LOL, the drum reminds me of my younger brother when he was a toddler (he was a super cute toddler) and he loves playing the cowboys & the Indians and that lead me to think of dressing up  the drum. What's the connection, right? I don't know... that's just the way my mind works. :) Anyway... I ended up not making Christmas card. I made Thanksgiving card, instead.

Do you recognize the feathers? Any guess?? Yep, that's from the Lunar Light set. Hmm... for the life of me, I couldn't think what's the English term for it. The string that hang from under the lantern??

Hubby likes this one. :)

I hope you will join us on this challenge. Need more inspiration? Then check out what the DT gals created at Wee Memories blog. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

CARDS THAT CARE

Hi all. If you remember, last year I did a card drive to collect holiday cards for the elderly that lives in nursing homes.Well, I am excited to announce that I am doing it again this year and I am teaming up with the fabulous Jennifer McGuire.

She's been thinking about doing this for awhile and since we have the same goal, I asked her if she'd like to team up and to my delight she said yes. Our card drive is called CARDS THAT CARE. We hope that many of you will join and help us to reach more nursing homes and spread more joy.

The holidays are about family, about kindness, and joy. The holidays are the times when many of the elderly who lives in nursing homes would really feel the loneliness or missing their family. Wouldn't it be awesome if we can bring a smile to their face & brighten their holiday season simply by sharing our love of card making? A simple gesture to let them know that they are not forgotten.

We all love making cards and what’s better than knowing our creations can bring a smile to others? We hope that many of you will help and join us in our effort to spread joy & cheer.

We have some people that already agree to help us deliver the cards to selected nursing homes.
