Paper Play Distressing

This week at Paper Play it's team B turns to play. Our challenge is distressing. And... let me tell ya... distressing was stressing me up! :) I think in my head I always associated distressing with vintage and as much as I adore other people vintage style, it just not my style.

And on top of that my mojo decided to just go on vacation and leaving me stranded. I wasted 3 cards. Each time I felt like they looked too messy. At the end, my clean style won and I just stick to this simple card. I distress the image with distress inks and use SRM sticker for the sentiment.

Challenges:
Oldie But Goodie Challenge - Pink, Blue & Brown

The other DT gals did such fabulous works. Mine is the simplest one! Sorry, when mojo is  on vacation, it's ON VACATION! No trace of it left whatsoever. Hah! :) Check out the DT work at Paper Play Challenges.

Hope you have a great Thursday! :)

Shades of Green

Yay... Thursday. My favorite day of the week. :) Today, I have a springy, girly card for you. This week is my team turn at Paper Play challenges. Our theme this week is "Shades of green / good luck" and we are sponsored by Whiff of Joy.

Since, I don't really celebrate St. Patrick's day and being my efficient self, I like making cards that I can actually give or send to others, I decided to just do the green colors part. I use shades of green with a little jolt of pink, orange, and aqua. :) Sketch is from Jen's March SYFTT.

Challenges:
Creative Card Crew - no flowers

I think I came down with a fever. Did you see how many layers this card have? The whole time working on it, I kept thinking wow, seriously all these layers? LOL, I don't know why, but I feel like I am not being green or enviromentally friendly when I create card with too many layers. Then I reason with myself that not using up my scraps is even worse and it's not being green either.

What can I say, I am environment concious. I recycle a lot and at the office, I am the recycle officer. I basically teach and encourage my co-workers to recycle. :)

Well, I hope you will play along with this challange and you can check out more inspirations from the DT gals on Paper Play blog. Looking forward to your  creations! Thanks for stopping by!

Smilin' Kind of Day

This week, I received a happy mail from a very sweet, kind blogging friend. I am so excited. I've been in a bit on creative slump this week, so these new goodies definitely help me to get creative again.

I played with one of my new goodies and made this CAS card for Paper Play "Let's Get Sentimental" challenge. The sentiment is from our sponsor Create With TLC. If you check their site, you'll find tons of freebies.

I've been wanting this stamp for the longest time and have some ideas storming in my head for some creative use. Now, I just need to find more time to play. Like the saying, "So many stamps, so little time!"

Please check out the Paper Play DT fabulous creations HERE.

This morning, knock on wood, is the first day in a long time where I have a pretty good morning. No bad heartburn and nasuoesness that lingering for hours. And that... makes me giddy. I feel the old, cheerful me coming back up the surface. I got my diagnosis, did my crying and worrying, but I am ready to move on. I do have to change and remove a lot of stuff from my diet, and have routine screening every couple years, but you know what life is too short to worry about those things.

It's a good feeling, that as I type my blog, I find myself smiling and feeling giddy. I have awesome hubby who takes such good care of me, awesome family who's cheering me on, and new stamps waiting to be used... life is good! :)

Thank you all for stopping by and may you have a fabulous day that brings smile to your face.

Today at Paper Play we have new challenge for you. Layered it up! We want to see cards with some layers. Here's the card I made using FTL 124 sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping. I am not one for bunch of layers, but this card does have layers.

Woodware USA - Anything Goes

The DT has created some gorgeous samples for your inspirations. Go check out their fabulous creations at Paper Play Challenges. And, please join us for the fun!  It's almost as easy as anything goes challenge since many of us always use layers for our cards. :)

Another birthday related thing, is this pic from my mom's recent birthday. What I love about this pic? My mom's happy smile and my li'l brother goofy pose. That smile on my brother's face... that's his typical happy smile. He's a very happy go lucky person. Always enjoying life to the fullest. He enjoys being behind the camera and in front of the camera. LOL. One of this day, I'll share some sneak peek from his photography books. He has 2 books published so far.

That's it for today folks. Hope you have a great Thursday and thank you for all your support & lovely comments. I love reading them and I thank you for taking the time to do so. :)

Paper Play Monochromatic

Hi peeps! How are you all doing? Today, I have new challenge for you at Paper Play Challenges. This week we're sponsored by Whimsy Stamps and the theme is monochromatic. It could be any color of your choice as long as they are monochromatic colors.

For mine, I picked aqua blue, except for the hair. I just didn't think blue hair would go well with this angel sweet face. :) The background was embossed using Papertrey impression plate. The card actually has really pretty shimmer to it as I sprayed the background with perfect pearl (mix with water).

Challenges:
Crafty Little Place - anything goes
Scrap-Creations - anything goes
Craft Your Passion - monochromatic
Stamps R Us - holiday cards

Don't forget to check out all the DT creations HERE and I sure hope you will join us and play along.

Are you gals almost done with your Christmas cards? I am not. Yikes... there's so much thing to do before my trip and I do want to spend some quality time with hubby, too. So, I decided that as much as I'd love to send fancy handmade Christmas cards to all my friends, I just wouldn't stress about it. Whatever I get to finish, that's it. After all, Christmas is more about actually spending time with your love ones, right?

EDITED TO ADD: I never heard back from Caring Hearts Prize Winner for Just Some Lines $15 worth of digi stamp, so had to choose another winner. THERESA POLLACK you're the lucky one! Please contact me ASAP. Thank you.
Enjoy your Thursday! Cheers...

Paper Play "Circle" Challenge

Hi peeps, happy Thursday! I read on several blogs, about doing the 30 days of  thankfulness. Basically each day in November you mention or take picture of things you're grateful for.

I am a big believer in being grateful & thankful. Actually, hubby and i have this habit that before we go t o bed we chat and somehow without even planning it, we always ended up saying things that we're grateful for. It could be the simpest thing, like grateful for our comfy bed, etc.

Since it's only day 4 of November, it's not too late to join in. For today, I am grateful for the heater. LOL, I get cold so easily, that we actually had the heater run and it fet nice.

Okay, on to card. Since I've been making a bunch of Thanksgiving and holiday cards lately, it feels nice to break out of the routine and create non-holiday cards. For this week Paper Play "Circles" challenge, I made this card, inspired by Lucy's card here. I actually would prefer to add zig-zag stitches along the border,  but my sewing machine is broke. :(

This card is also going to Caardvarks inside out challenge. Need more inspiration to join the challenge? Go check out the what the Paper Play DT has created. Thank you all for stopping by. I'll have another post today to show you my whimsical card! Cheers!

There's No Place Like Home

Hi peeps! Have great news to share, but since it's a long story, let mepost my card first. LOL, that way anyone who's not interested to read  my story don't have to suffer reading the long post. Hah.

This week, at Paper Play Challenge the challenge is to create a project using ORANGE, OLIVE GREEN & BLUE colors. Please check out all the DT fabulous projects for more inspirations.

Anyway, on to my great news. Peeps..., after many weeks of stressing out, I finally got my ticket to Jakarta! I'm going home for Christmas! Yippie kay yei!  :)

I've been stressing out about being able to go home or not. I've been watching the price going up for weeks and with sinking heart, I thought, how am I going to do this. I want to be home for Christmas so badly & I miss my mom, my brothers so much. I kept praying, please let there be a miracle or computer glitch or glitch on the airline system, where maybe they posted the wrong price & I get to buy the ticket at that price.

Yes, I pray for computer glitch. I was desperate. :) Tuesday evening, as I pray hard while checking the price, I saw the price drop to what I can afford, for the day I need. The thing is because of work, I don't have flexible date on when I can go. I can only go during the slowest work time & also it had to be unpaid time off. So, good price was a must.

My mom is the type that always put others before her. She kept saying, honey don't worry, if you can't come home, that's okay, I understand. I am okay, don't worry. But, the truth came out when I called her and let her know I am coming home for sure. She was like, "I can't wait to hug you again!" Simple words, but to me so powerful. I can only imagine how hard it is to be so far away from your child. It's hard fo rme not to be able to touch her or hug her.

I cried and later I told hubby, to hear her joy, it's so worth it whatever stress I went through. Time with family is priceless. I mean, even as I  type this, my heart just filled with so much love. I am thankful  to have a husband who's so supportive & loving. Not both of us can go and we'd have to be away from each other for Christmas, but he knows how much I have missed my home and he encourage me to go because he knows this is important for me.

Not only I am home for Christmas, I will also get to celebrate my mom's birthday with her. Joy, joy, joy!

Thank you to all of you who's been so kind and encouraging when I was down. Your thoughtfulness means so much  to me and that's why I want to share this news with  you all. If you read this all, thank you even more for caring. :) Thanks for everything. I have the best blogging friends. Cheers!!

Paper Play Sketch Challenge

Hi peeps! I'm so glad it's Thursday. A day away from the weekend. :) Hubby and I will get to babysit our niece, Maddy, who will stay for a couple nights with us. And we'll get to take her to her school dance. Her mom was saying that she cannot wear any make up. Hmm... I sure hope that smart girl wouldn't try to sneak it on us. LOL, thank goodness we only have to deal with tween issue once in a while.

Anyhoo, I have this "grumpy" card for you. Hah.. when I saw the "Stitchy Bear Stamp" images that we get to work with for this week Paper Play Challenges, I picked this grumpy fella. LOL, it so remind me of me back in teenage year. Weekend we get to sleep in, but not too late & my mom would wake me up and I'd drag myself to the living room carrying my bunny stuff animal. And yeah... I probably have that expression, too.

At Paper Play each of the DT get to set a challenge and this week I pitch in with sketchtastic challenge.

Not, my typical image to use, but I thought he's kind of cute. What you think? I hope you will get to join us for this fun challenge! Check out all the eye candies by the talented DT gals here. Have a great Thursday, peeps!

Paper Play & DDSB

Thank you all so much for the get well wishes you sent my way after my post yesterday. I definitely feel much better. Still have a bit of cramping, but at least no pain. As long as there's no pain, I am good. Last night I even managed to created a couple cute cards. But, since, I already have 2 cards for today, I'll save the cards I made last night for tomorrow's post. :)

Fist up is my card for Paper Play Autumn is comin' challenge sponsored by Simon Say Stamp. For all the details & prize information, check it out here. All the stamps that I used here are from Hero Arts, except for the sentiment, which is from Verve Stamps. When it comes to sentiment, Verve stamps does have some of the best sentiments & style in my opinion. I love this saying. I always admired Mother Teresa and pretty much as soon as I saw this, I know I have to have it right away. It's such a powerful words.

I actually submitted this card for the recent Stamp It! submission call, but it didn't get pick. Oh well, I just have to keep on trying. :)

Second is my card for Digi Doodle Shop's Best "Charm" challenge. Isn't this spider just too cute? I love that his eyes all goofy looking. I cut & layered the spider twice for extra dimension. Forgot  to take picture from the side to show the layers & I already gave this card to my SIL. I don't have charms handy in my stash, so I created my  own charms using my always reliable Silhouette. I hanged all 3 charms on black thread.

I really love how fun this card looks.  Likey the spider? You can get it here. And for details on the challenge please go here.

Also just a reminder, you have till Friday midnight to enter Wee Memories "Wee Ones" challenge.

So happy it's already Thursday and only 9 more days till I see my brother!! So, so excited & looking forward to spending some time with him. That's it for today, peep! Have a blessed day! Hugs, Vera.

Paper Play & DDSB

Happy Thursday, peeps! today, I have 2 new challenges for you. First is a sketch challenge from Paper Play sponsored by Wink Wink Ink. You can check out all the detail & enter the challenge here.

I was excited when they said the DT can pick the image to work with. And guess what I chose... Well, all I can say my heart  belong to the pugs!! As soon as I saw this "Puggles", I know my choice. Heh... as a proud pug owner, how can I resist this??

I think this is the first cute pug digi stamp I ever found. For extra details, I added flocks on the tail & the paws. It's soft & fuzzy. Just like the real thing. Here's pic of my spoil brat baby, Ollie. LOL, I truly think she knows what's the camera for. I have tons of pictures of Ollie. I love this pic, where she  had her paws all tucked in inside hubby's shoes. She's my baby & I love her so much!

Next, is my card for Digi Doodle Shop's Best. This week challenge is distressed or vintage. I distressed the edges of the squares and the purple cardstock. And the image... loved it!! As soon as I saw it, I know I want it. They're just so adorable!

Here up-close view of the mice. I popped-up 3 of the mice for extra dimension. See the one napping on the bottom corner, sigh... so cute!! I also highlighted the inside of the pumpkin with glitters to make it looks like it shine with candle light.

There you go, two fun challenges!! I hope you can join us for the fun and I am looking forward to checking out your creations! Have a great day. Almost Friday.... yay!!

Paper Play Week 32 & DDSB Challenge

First of all, I want to thank you to all of you for your lovely comments through the blog, twitter, email, and facebook regarding my post from yesterday as Making Memories guest designer. I truly appreciate your supports. I am so humble and grateful to have many of you cheering for me. So blessed. :)

Today, I have two new challenges for you today. First up is my card for Paper Play Challenge. This week theme is "Bon Voyage".  For my card, I totally go in the fun & cute direction. As you know, Lawn Fawn is one of my favorite. Especially after I met Kelly, I love her products even more. I love supporting genuinely nice people. :)

I made the card using 2S4Y sketch & CPS 179 (they're almost the same). The idea of the punched cloud is inspired by Belinda Chang's card here (thanks for the inspiration, Belinda). Created the car using Papertrey Ink stamp & matching car die. The idea of the bunnies driving the car is from the Kia car advertisement (I think it's Kia, if I am wrong, sorry) where the hamsters looking so cool and tapping their fingers to the music while riding around town. Love fun commercial.

Unfortunately, I am missing the bunny from my Lawn Fawn set. So, I had to draw the bunnies myself to match the Fawn Lawn critters. I love the cheerfulness this card conveys.

Next, is my card for Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge. This week we're sponsored by Daisy Doodles and the challenge theme is flowers. Please stop by here for the challenge & prize detail. Here's my card following Card Pattern 76 sketch.

Hope you can join both challenges! Don't forget to check out all the DT blogs for more inspirations. I am looking forward to seeing your creations. Have a great Thursday!

Paper Play & DDSB Challenge

Thursday!! Yay... I am so ready for the weekend already. How about you peeps? This week has been such whirlwind. Between the stress from work, me PMS-ing, it just simply been quite a week. Definitely counting the hours to Friday 5pm. I'll probably hang out with my girl friend this weekend and I'm looking forward to that!

Anyway, I have two new challenges for you today. The first one is from Paper Play Challenges. By the way, last week we did anything goes challenge, we had 444 entries. I think by day 3 of the challenge we had almost 300?? That's scary and awesome at the same time. LOL, scary in the meaning of the amount of blog we had to cheack out. Awesome because it's nic eto see you gals loves our challenges. :)

Now, this week our challenge is to create a project using 2 patterned paper, 3 flowers, 1 ribbon, and a charm. We're sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps who provided us with some digi stamp to play with. I chose their fairy image.

I didn't have a small charm  to use, so I used my Making Memories charm. It's a bit big, so instead of dangling it, I put it off to the side of the flower. See that white heart peeking out? The charm was silver, but I dabbed it with white inkpad & embossed it with clear embossing powder to seal the color in. I also added stitches all around the border.

My other challenge is Digi Doodle Shop's Best (DDSB) challenge. Easy peasy challenge. Create a card using your favorite stamp. Since I'm representing DDSB, of course I picked my favorite stamp from their line, which is this cute owl. He's just so cute! I used Mojo Monday sketch 150 for this card.

I rubbed some chalks on the circle area to create a soft shading. The patterned papers are from Kaiser Krafts and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. And of course, I had to use the wiggly eyes for the owl to make him look even cuter.

I hope you will join me for Paper Play & DDSB challenges. Have a super duper great Thursday! And, if you live in super hot area like me, try to stay cool!

Paper Play & DDSB Challenge

Hi peeps!! Eeekk..., one more day till CHA Super Show! I got my stuff packed (not that there's many to pack since I am only going to be gone for 2 days), my list ready, and list of phone numbers on hand. I am guessing I probably will have a hard time sleeping tonight as I am so  giddy. Although I really need the sleep, considering the next 2 days going to be a long day with lots of walking. I hope it's going to  be as good as I expected.

On to today's card. Today is the rare occasion where my card fit my two DT assignments. Love when this happens. Hah... I made this card for the challenges on both, Paper Play Challenge & Digi Doodle Shop's Best (DDSB) challenge. This week Paper Play Challenges theme is "EVERYTHING GOES" and Digi Doodle Shop's Best challenge theme is "PUNCH IT OUT" (which create a project using punch or die-cut).

Now , you know I love die-cuts. Would never have thought I'd say that. If you asked me this question 10 years ago, I would said that's one of my least favorite item to use in scrapbook. But, with all the current stylish design, convenience, and quality of the tools, now I love using die-cut.

The dies that I used for this card is the new Spiral Note Die from Papertrey Ink and the clouds cut with Silhouette. The hot air balloon is from Digi Doodle Shop's Summer set. I printed it twice, once on the patterned paper and second one on white cardstock. Cut the balloon part from the patterned paper and the basket part from the white cardstock (I colored the basket with Copic markers). The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink also.

I have to say that my collection of Papertrey Ink grows the fastest. I found them back in Febuary 2010 and by now I already have 15 sets, some inkpads, several dies, cardstock, etc.?! My digi stamps growing pretty fast, too. At least they don't take extra storage space. Nice thing about digi stuff! :) Who's your current favorite company? Let's enabling each other here. :)

You all have a great Thursday and hopefully Sunday, if I am not whooped, I can post about my CHA trip! Hugs, Vera.

Happy, happy, joy. joy!

Yay... I am in cloud 9. Why?? Cause my goodies prizes from Gallery Idol finally arrived late afternoon yesterday. Aaahhhh.... I practically grab the box from hubby and ran upstairs to my scrap room. I was so giddy and excited.

And peeps, if you have followed me for a while, you know I looooveeee pretty papers and colors. If there's such a thing as paper addiction high, that's how I felt when I went through the goodies. There's stuff from October Afternoon, Cosmo Crickets, Papertrey Ink, magazines, etc. I was so happy I started to dance & bust the move! LOL. After I calmed down a bit, hubby took my picture and the goodies.

Here's my pic holding the certifcate from Paper Craft and trying to smile normal instead of my goofy grin and pic of the stash. Just have to share my excitement. Pretty papers come to mama!! :)

Papers, stickers, stamps, dies, pin, sigh.... happy, happy, joy, joy! I was so inspired that I even did a layout!! Will share it soon!

OK, earth to Vera, earth to Vera... plase come back and settle down. :)

I do have cards to share with you as well. First up, is my card for Paper Play Challenges Week 29. This week it's color combo challenge. Cream, blue & another color of your choice. We're sponsored by Craft Brulee who provided us with some beautiful ribbons & lace. This beautiful peacock is from Hero Arts.

Next, is my card for Digi Doodle Shop's Best challenge. This week it's "Anything Goes". Super easy challenge. With summer and the hot, hot weather, I chose this summer drink as my image. Make me wish I am on a beach somewhere sipping mojito or mai tai! The pic didn't show it too well, but I added crystal glaze on the drink, so it looks shiny.

So, there's 2 fun challenges you can join. And y ou can easily combine both challenges in one card. Hope you will join the fun and I am looking forward to your creations!! Have a great Thursday!! Ciaoo....

Paper Play Challenges & DDSB

Hmm... I am seriously tempted to stalk my mail lady. LOL. Kelly from Paper Crafts said that our goodies already been mailed out and I am impatiently waiting for it to arrive. Hoping I'll get it by this weekend, so I can start playing! Or to just look at them. LOL. I just love staring at pretty papers.

Actually, I'll be doing a lot of staring at pretty paper this Saturday as I'll be attending the CKC Expo in Houston and will be volunteering at one of the booth. I know I'll be over the moon looking at yummy goodies this weekend.

Oh yeah... back to reality. :) Here's my card for Paper Play Challenges this week. We have sketch challenge & this week we're sponsored by Meljen's design. Meljen has bunch of cute stuff. Me likey cute stuff. Since  this is such a cute style, I am entering this for Card Style Fun and Cute Challenge in the Moxie Fab World as well.

Next  card is for Digi Doodle Shop's Best scrap challenge. Create any project using your scraps. I have boxes of scraps. I tend to save too much scraps. When I used to teach scrapbook classes, my students would actually offered me their scraps. LOL. Why waste it if you can still use it, right? Save the environment by not wasting papers. :) I try to purge my scraps and I still have a bunch. Well, this is what I made using my scraps based on sketch from TESC120.

Isn's this giraffe just so adorable? I colored it with Copic markers. The pic didn't show it well,  but the scarf on the giraffe's neck is very pretty as I added glitters to it. Very chic, I would say. :) I just love the way it looks. You get 2 giraffes in this one set, one with scraf and one without.

I hope you can join both challenges. They are both fun and you can win some goodies. Looking forward to seeing your creations! Hugs, Vera.

Paper Play Challenges & DDSB Challenge

Yay... Thursday! I am soo ready for Friday. Hubby is down with the cold. So, nice relaxing weekend is definitely needed.

Okay, on to  today's cards. This post is for Paper Play Challenges and Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge.

Up first is my card for Paper Play Challenges. This week theme is "Your Number's Up". Create a card or any project that use number prominently. I've been looking for reason to use this number border from Silhouette. I thought it's such a cool design.

The stamps are from the new Hero Arts Let's Chill set (except for the sentiment, it's from Papertrey Ink). Love that little crab. Isn't this number border just fun?

Now, my card for Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge 15. This week it's all about texture. I used my Cuttlebug for the dots embossing. Once I embossed the dots, I rubbed the raised dots with Color Box Apple Candy ink pad. Just enough to give a hint of teal colors. Cut the waves using Silhoutte. This cute whale is part of the "Sea Life Set" from Digi Doodle Shop. I printed it on Bo Bunny papers. Kind of getting into paper piecing a lot lately. :)

And peeps, I am super excited that.... I am  going to CHA Super Show!! Yay... Super duper excited. Hoping to meet up with some HA gals, some peeps from Gallery Idol, and hopefully some blog followers who's also going. I am going with my MIL & we're going to have some girls time. This is my first time and I am so happy at the thought of finally meeting face to face with some of the peeps. Gonna be hectic as I'll go Friday and coming back Saturday evening. But, I am looking  forward to it and if you're going, let me know so we can all meet up!

Hope you'll join me on both challenges. Looking forward to seeing your creations!! Hugs, Vera.

Patchwok Boo

Hi there. Am popping up to share this cutie patootie ghost courtesy of Spellbinder's Felt Patchwork Boo Etched Dies by Nichol Spohr . I...
