Thanks So Very Much

Keeping things simple and showcasing my love for birds.  Almost a one layer card. I ended up framing the sentiment to make it a bit more stands out. Hm... looking at the soft colors, makes me want to meditate. :)

Entering this card for Moxie Fab World Spatter challenge and Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.

Have a fab Thursday, peeps. :)

Eli

Well, how fun, it's Wednesday already. Love short work week.  :) Time seems to fly by faster.

Yesterday, hubby and I took Eli to the dog park and he had his first experience of being completely submerge in the pool. It was by accident of course. He was chased by the other puppy and by the time he flop down, he was totally in the pool. I wish I had remember to take picture, because his face was just so comical. It was like, what the heck just happened here? And, being surrounded by 3 bigger dogs, not much time to think of the wetness.

Then, he started walking around the edge of the pool and I guess he din't know what's the splash all about as he was busy trying to catch the splash he made. He kept trying to bite at the splash. At first, I thought he was trying to chase a dragonfly that I saw flying around the pool, but nope... chasing splash was more interesting for him. He cracks me up! :D

That's what I love about Eli, how he could find things to entertain himself. Needless to say, he slept on the way home. Sorry, babbling on about Eli here. :)

I do have a card to share. This time I actually pull out my patterned paper and combine it with some stamping. This beautiful sentiment is from Market Street Stamp. I'm entering this for Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.

Yep, slowly vintage looking project starts to grow on me. I only like it in small dosage, though. Heh... Have a great day everyone. :)

Fun Filled Weekend

Hi lovely peeps! How was your long weekend? I started mine early, by leaving work early on Friday to pick up Laurel Beard who is in town for a few days. We went to check out the Archivers, where we met up with Gretchen and then because she's not feeling well, I took her back to my place so she can chill out. That whole afternoon, Laurel was nauseous due to her migraine med side effect and we basically drove around with her holding a plastic bag, which thankfully she didn't have to use. :)

The next day, I spent the morning at the dog park with hubby and Eli the puppy. It's just so much fun watching him trying to keep up with the big boys. In the afternoon I went up to north Houston again  to pick Laurel up, this time for some pampering time. We got a pedicure with matching colors. Yes, we are cheesy like that! :) I seriously, just love having her around. She's so bubbly and she makes me laugh continuously with her no nonsense respond. And, her hubby, just as nice as can be.

Here's a couple pics from our weekend.

Laurel finally get to meet Eli.

My favorite pic. No, I wasn't being camera shy, but the camera was
about an inch away from my face and that's just way too close. :)

Sunday, totally chillin' out day. Picked up some flowers from Home Depot and hubby panted some colorful flowers & started a little veggies garden on our backyard. I don't have green thumb at all, so I am leaving the gardening stuff to hubby who enjoys doing those kind of stuff. Monday, went to see Man In Black 3. Missed Frank the pug, but if you see the movie, you'll see a few reference to Frank. And... I want the pug puppy poster just like on J's house. Yes, I am a bit obsessed with pug. Ha.. :)

Then my girlfriend came over in the afternoon with her sweet toddler, Mia. Let just say, Mia and Eli enjoy each other company. They played non-stop all afternoon. As I typed this, Eli is totally crashing on the pillow, snoring softly  now & then.

Of course, I made some cards, too. Quite a few actually. And, one of the card is this fish ribbon card, which is my last entry for Paper Crafts 2012 Gallery Idol. And, I know right away that for the encouragement sentiment I want to use the mantra "just keep swimming" from Finding Nemo. It is one that I often repeat to myself when things get a bit rough.

I partially embossed the top part of the panel and added American Crafts glitter POW paper behind the fish.

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and yay... for short work week!!

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day day, everyone. :) And, I want to say thank you to all of those in the military & their family for everything they do to keep us safe. Thank you for everything you do. And, I have a few friends who has spouse getting ready for deployment and just want to send huge hug for you all.

As Memorial Day rolling in, it also means summer has started. Yikes... cross fingers for not too many 100 degree days. Now, speaking about hot, today at Some Odd Girl, we are featuring this hot pair Toasted & Toastee.

I decided to go with baby theme. I know,  usually it's bun in  the oven, but I think toast popping out from toaster work just as well. Hm... what do you think? :) For the next 2 weeks, you can grab them from the shop for 25% off. You can see more example using Toasted & Toastee at Some Odd Girl blog.

And, I want to do a quick birthday shout out for my brother, Jerry who's celebrating his birthday this past Saturday. This year is a big year for him in many aspects. To Jerry, may this year continue to be a year filled with many blessings and may all your birthday wishes come true. By the way, he just won 5 bronze award from the Epson Pano Award, which is the largest competition for panoramic photography. You can check out his fabulous winning pictures HERE. I am so very proud of him.

Check out his super cute birthday card from his wife. :) I want a birthday cake that's cute like this!

Have a fabulous day everyone!

Happy Friday, everyone! Quick post as I have quite a long to do list for today. We have a new challenge at Lily Pad Cards sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. The challenge is to create any project featuring star.

And. here's my card using the fabulous glitter POW paper from American Crafts. This paper is so gorgeous and no flaky glitter either. This card is my fourth card that using stuff from my girl get together.

Seriously, getting together with crafty friends was just what I needed to get out of creativity block. :)

Have a fabulous Friday, everyone!

Flower or Bird

As promised, I continue to make cards using the images that I stamped or created from my weekend get together with the girls. When I was at Brenda, she let us play with her Memory Box dies. They are pretty cool. Trinh and I were definitely cranking the die-cut machine a lot that night.

One of the die is the Piestra border die. I managed to repeat the border side by side to create this beautiful background. I wanted to use it as a mask with the spray mist. And, that's exactly what I did with my first card, which I made for Young Crafters Unite Challenge # 10.

The beautiful flower is from W9Plus set that I won from Stamping Royalty. I love W9Plus stamp. I think they are gorgeous and stamp so well. I plan to get more sets from this company. The sentiment is from another company that I am not familiar with, called Flourishes. The set which this sentiment come from is gorgeous, but a bit too serious looking for my taste, but I just love, love the sentiment. I haven't get a chance to check out their collection, but plan to do so when I have a chance.

Since I love the card so much, I had a duh...  moment when I realized I only cut one Piestra background. I wish I had cut more so I can also use it for more cards. Then, my Mister Q (aka Silhouette) came to the rescue. I found out that they also have this background. Awesomeness. So, for my next card, I kind of repeat the same design, and this time I am using the cut out background directly on the card and the bird from Memory Box.

Which one you like better? Since, I love bird, I kind of a bit  more partial toward the second card. Love the sharp contrast of the white and the colors. But, love the softness and the flower of the first card. Hm...

So, any plan for Memorial Day weekend? I am guessing I'll be spending a lot of time crafting, and most likely go to the movies as well as I want to see Johnny Depp's Dark Shadow and also spend some time with Laurel Beard who is coming to town today!! Yippeee...

Enjoy your Thursday....

May Arts Post

Hi peeps, today is my day at May Arts blog. This week we re teaming up with Core'dinations. Please check it out and if you would kindly leave some love, I'd so appreciate it. And, did you know that when you leave comments there during this week teaming up, you'll get entered for the giveaway. :)

Here's a peek at my card. You can see the full card HERE

It's also my day at SP & Company, and you can check out my card HERE. Thanks so much.

Faith

Last night as I snuggled with hubby and the doggies, I was reminded how blessed my life is. Granted it's filled with many ups and downs, after all that's what make life a life. You can only fully appreciate the good things in life when you have experience bad stuff as well. And, I have went through some bad moments that makes me appreciate my life now very much.

And, one thing that I've learned to do through the ups and downs is to pray. Not only in bad time but in good time as well. I truly get this from my mom. You cannot only pray for when you needed help, you also need to pray when life is good. Praying saying thank you is just as important as praying asking for help, don't you think?

And, when things seem so bleak, I think as human being the one thing that help us keep going are hope and faith. As long as we have faith, we'll keep trying, keep going. Have faith that thing will gets better.

Oh, before any of you wonder if something happened to me, nothing is wrong. Ha... sometime I just go through one of my mood, where I just feel reflective and pondering about life. I am deep like  that... sometime. LOL. Other time, I am just plain goofy. :)

Stamps from Hero Arts & Papertrey Ink.

I just love this card. Trinh, see... I used the stuff that I stamped from our weekend get together. From all the stamped images that I made this past weekend, this is one of my favorite. The color is soooo me.  I think with it's soft colors it will brighten anyone's day and  the sentiment hopefully will give encouragement for when they need it.

I am entering this card for Paper Crafts 2012 Gallery Idol.

Another note, if last weekend I get to hang out with the Texas' girls, this weekend, I get to hang out with my Florida girl, Laurel Beard. I am so excited! I miss this tiny girl (hah... I don't get to say tiny to others that often) and this time our hubby will get to meet each other, too. So, looking forward to this weekend!!

Life Is Good

Today, we're continuing with Some Odd Girl May Clear Releases. Let me introduce you to "Sunny Mae". This set come with cute clouds & a fab sun ray.

The sentiment is from SRM Stickers. Isn't Mae looks so pretty & sweet? I love her summer dress. This set is now available at the SHOP and you can see more fabulous samples at Some Odd Girl blog.

Now, let me share a couple pics from my stamping get together with the girls. All I can say, I am so thankful that I met these kind, funny, talented, and generous ladies.

Trinh, me, Lisa, & Martha.

Can you find any empty spot on that table? No? :) Ha, of course not. Between all the stamps, papers, ribbons, inkpads, we even have stuff on the window sill, on the floor, and the kitchen counter. It's like a stamper's little paradise.

Shopping time!!!

We all have different style and it's fun to watch how everyone's work. Brenda made me laugh with her staring moments. Sometime when  you're surrounded by so many stamps, you can just get overwhelmed. :) Trinh was determine to actually get cards done (on our last  get together, she and I just stamped a bunch of stuff without actually completing anything) and she got 8 cards completed.  Lisa and I stamped a bunch of stuff to be used for later creations. Then Martha taught Brenda and Lisa how to make a super fancy card, while Trinh and I playing with Brenda's collection of dies.

And, this time, I actually remember to use those stamped images. Starting tomorrow, I will share cards that are the result from this weekend get together.

Time to get to work. Have a fabulous day everyone.

Lawnscaping Embossing Challenge

Hi everyone. Today marks the start of a new Lawnscaping challenge. This time it's all about embossing and we are sponsored by Lawn Fawn itself.

And, here's my card using dry embossing. The chevron border is from Spellbinders M-bossabilities So Trendy. I only embossed the bottom part of the card and also scored a couple lines right above the chevron borders.

You have 2 weeks to play along and please check out Lawnscaping post for more inspiration from the DT gals and for prize detail. Can't wait to check out what you created for this fun challenge!!

Weekend Fun & SOG Galore

This weekend is such a fabulous weekend. I spent the whole Saturday hanging out with Brenda, Lisa, Trinh, & Martha. We all brought our stamps & supplies and it was like a stamp store galore. We get to borrow each other stamps, learned tip from each other, joking around, all in all it just a pure fun get together.

Brenda made superb made from scratch pizza that's super yummy and introduced me to South Africa chilly curry jam that I smeared on top of my pizza. It sounds weird, but it's the best pizza ever. We also took a trip to Archivers (will posted pics later once I get them from the girls).

I stayed at Brenda's till 10.30pm and the others stayed over night. Hubby actually suggested I should stay over night, too, but I know with the puppy it can be a handful and Eli is mama's boy big time, so I decided to just stay all day but go home at night. Besides, I only live like 30 minutes away from Brenda & Lisa. :)

This get together is just what I needed. I've been in mojo slump for a bit and after last night, my brain starts feeling the creativity flowing again. Thank you ladies for the fabulous day and I cannot wait for our next get together.

Now, I was so busy with the girl on Saturday, that I kind of miss Some Odd Girl Facebook Fun Event. I tried to pop in here and there to check in and I did make a quick tutorial for SOG blog on how I make this cheerful card. You can see my post HERE.

Stamp: Some Odd Girl Gwen In Bloom set

And, this week Some Odd Girl is releasing some fabulous clear stamp set, starting today with Under The Sea Mae set.

I made 2 cards to showcase the two beautiful mermaids on this set. I love this set a lot. I think the way Kristy drew Mae on this set is simply gorgeous & sweet.

Please check out Some Odd Girl blog to see what the DT gals created using this uber cute set. Hope you enjoy your visit here today and thank you for stopping by here. Have a fabulous week everyone!!

Lily Pad Cards

Oh my goodness.... For you, Grey's Anatomy fans, did you see last night season's finale? I am not going to spoil it for you who's still hasn't seen it, but let me tell you, I'm super sad that one of my favorite character is gone. The story line is pretty surprising. I didn't see this one coming at all.

Currently, Grey's is my number one favorite show. And sure hope that next season not going to be their last one. That would be a such a bummer if they ended the show. Cross fingers it'll continue. BTW, any of you seen Scandal? What do you think of the show? I think it's pretty interesting. I missed last night episode, though. Too distraught after watching Grey's. LOL.

Hmm... I am babbling about TV show here. Let's get on to card. This time I have the privilege to provide the inspiration pic courtesy of Pinterest, of course.

And, we are sponsored by Stamp Camp, who provide the DT with some fabulous stamps. And, here's my card, inspired by the bright colors of the pic.

For the background of my card, I used their background stamp called Faint Scratches to represent the soft woodgrain pattern on the inspiration pic background. Love how this background add a bit of fun to the card without being overwhelming. Lots of fussy cut as I cut those leaves one by one.

Check out Lily Pad Cards for challenge prize detail and for many fab inspiration from the DT. Have a fabulous Friday everyone!

Updated: Almost forgot to mention. Today I am sharing a tutorial on Paper Crafters Library. Please take a peek and leave some love if you would. :) Here's a look at what I am sharing. Thank you. :)

No card today. Just sharing some random stuff and pics. :) Oh, and a giveaway on the bottom.

This week sure started off wonderfully. I came home from work to find my Stamping Royalty package from Paper Crafts waiting at the front door. I think I started boogieing (is that a word??) right there and then. Yep... pretty sure I did.

People... it's like Christmas in May!! Here's a look at some of the goodies. I am a firm believer in sharing when I win something, so I'll be sharing some of the stuff with my girls.

And, let's see what else in the package... hm... oh yeah, my crown. Tee.. hee... Of course, I have to try it on right away and snap a quick pic with my royal prince, or should I say my wiggly prince, Eli.

And, I also get a canvas bag with this badge on the front. :)

'Nuff about me. I want to do a shout out to my brother Jeff and his lovely wife, Gina as they are celebrating their 17th anniversary (and 25 years of togetherness). My Happy Place

Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful  Mother's Day. Our weekend was pretty laid  back. We took Eli the puppy to the dog park and we learned real quick that he prefer to play with the big dogs than the small ones.

It's so cute to see him running around with the pack. His eyes just got big when he saw the big dogs running together and his whole body wiggle with excitement to join. Yes..., I was the proud mommy. To me, my doggies are my kids, and literally I feel like my heart just swell when I saw how happy he is playing with the other dogs. And, of course, he got lots of love from the people in the park. :)

I love seeing him so happy, that we took him back to the dog park again the next day. And... yep, still love following the big dogs. He has no fear. When the big dogs barked at him, he barked back and everyone just laugh when they heard his small deep bark compare to the loud deep bark of the lab. I really do love my li'l guy so very much.

Now, that I've done my bragging, let's get on with card, shall we. In case you didn't know, this coming weekend, Some Odd Girl will be hosting a Facebook Fun Day event with lots of giveaway. To get the excitement going, we are also doing "Bright Colors Challenge." You can see all the details HERE

And, here's my card using SOG Nouveau Girl Dancer. Isn't she just so sweet?

Also, I think it's been over a month since I re-do my craft room and sigh... I still haven't quite get it super organized. But, rather than keep delaying posting pic of my craft room new color, I decided to just go ahead and post a couple pics.

Here's a pic of one corner of my room, where my ribbon holder hang. Hubby made this ribbon holder and yes, it's over flow. I ended up stacking some ribbons on top of the shelve. Before, my room color is dark blue and now it's more like soft teal. Well, hubby said it's like mint chocolate chip ice cream color (minus the chocolate). My room is definitely much brighter now.

Below, is the new hutch that we got from IKEA. I love IKEA. :) We went there to get bedside drawer for my side of the bed, but when I saw this hutch, I told hubby forget bedside drawer, I want this!! Hah! I haven't really organize all the stuff the way I want to, but it's good enough. At least, I can craft. I  plan on re-arranging the pictures and all the other knick knack.

I love that this hutch has adjustable slots and  has drawer on the bottom.

The paper stacked on this hutch is only a fraction of papers that I do have. The rest are in the closet and on the shelves on the opposite side of this desk. There's a reason why I haven't take pic of that shelves. :)

I admit, I am not one of those super organized people. I'd like to. I have good intention to be one. But, it seems like I always end up doing organized chaos, which means, things tend to pile up, but I do kind of know where everything is.

The hardest part for me is organizing the scrap papers. If I put it away,  then I forgot about it. So, I keep a small basket on my desk that hold the small scraps and the medium size one kind of piling on the corner of the desk (which I smartly hidden from the camera, hehe...).

I keep telling myself, messy desk means I am busy creating. I only have so much time in a day and I rather spend it creating than putting things away and have to pull it back out again. ;)

That's it for today. Hope you enjoy this mini tour of my craft room. Thank you for stopping by here and may your week starts off in an awesome way.

Mister Q

Yesterday, I mentioned  that I've named my Silhouette to Mister Q and I had to laugh when I read the comment from Kara Lynne that our relationship has gone to the next level. Sure sounds like it, huh? ;)

Considering how much I gush about it, I think it just proper to have it named. How do I come up with Mister Q? Bond. James Bond. LOL. In the movie, Q always come up with the coolest gadget, and since my Silhouette is a super cool gadget, Mister Q is perfect for it. It also stand for Quickutz. Perfecto.

Hubby said he'll share me with Mister Q. :)

Now, let's talk card a bit. Yesterday, I got happy email stating that I got 2 cards accepted by Paper Crafts and one of them is a shabby chic card. Imagine my shock!! I rarely do vintage or shabby chic card, so to have my card among the only 4  vintage style that they chose was a big deal. LOL, the editor was shock, too, when they found out it was my card. Dare I say that I start to love vintage card? Hm...

Now, talking about unusual style, this next card also not my style. For Lily Pad Cards, the DT get to play with stuff from Globecraft Memories and let just say I struggle with this. As much as I tried, I couldn't come up with a project that I am really satisfied with, so here we go:

The card is based on this color palette by Kathy:

Check out what the DT created for this challenge HERE and thank you for stopping by here. Happy Friday!!

Birthday Card

Today starts off wonderfully. Opened up my email to a lovely invitation from a certain company inviting me to join their team in July. All I can say, they have lovely talented ladies in their team that the only answer I could give is yes! :)

It's a happy experience to be invited and din't have to go through the application process and I just want to say to the company & the owners, thank you for considering me and for inviting me to join your fabulous team.

It's still a couple more months down the road before I start my term and I am looking forward to this new adventure. Will spill the bean when they make their announcement. :)

Meanwhile, here's a birthday card I made using a Unity & Jillibean stamp set that's just been sitting in my drawer for the longest time. Okay... confession, first time I am using this set since I got it last year. Combining it with Echo Park paper and I am entering this card for Simon Says Stamp Birthday challenge.

Have a blessed day, everyone!

Kindness

When I posted this Monday regarding my dad's birthday, it touches me that some of you share about your mom or you dad's birthday. Thank you for sharing that and for your kind comments.

I think we all agree that no matter how long time has passed our loved ones will never be far from our minds or our hearts. You will always miss them. I've been blessed to have a great real dad and a foster dad. Yes, they're both no longer here, but I do believe they're both still watching over me and  that bring me comfort.

I was daddy's girl big time and when my dads passed away and I had a hard time dealing with the loss, my mom always say this, "Be grateful for the life time  that you had with them. Many kids lost their parents at earlier age or don't even know their parents. Be thankful that you have them for the period you had them. Celebrate that."

Well, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your kind comments. They truly touch my heart.  Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for the cyber hugs. Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Thank you for the supports. Thank you for your kindness.

Hugs and have a blessed Friday everyone.

Ribbon Carousel & May Arts Blog Hop

Good morning everyone and welcome to Ribbon Carousel & May Arts blog hop. I love ribbon like I love cheesecake (which means I love it VERY MUCH) and I am thrilled to be able to join this hop.

For my card, I decided to make a welcome baby card since I have a feeling I will need this kind of card soon.

I had lots of fun making this card. I want the card to have celebratory feeling yet has softness to it since it's for baby. I feel the ribbon banners convey that feeling perfectly. For me banner represent the celebratory feeling and the soft colors lend the softness that I wanted.

These yummy twill ribbons are from May Arts and yep... they are my favorite ribbons!!

Now, that owl... I made it! Simply cut a rectangle out of brown cardstock, cut a curve on the top side of the rectangle (okay, since I am a bit of a perfectionist, I didn't free hand-cut this, I actually used my circle cutter to cut the curve). For the owl body, same thing, cut a small rectangle, but this time I used the oval cutter since it created a deeper curve.

Use circle punch for the eyes, nip a triangle for the black part and cut a small triangle for the beak. I rarely made my own design, so when I do and the result is pretty adorable like this owl (a bit bias here... hah), I feel like patting myself on the back. :) Now, I am curious to know what you think of this card, of the owl.

Please check out  May Arts blog and Ribbon Carousel blog for the hop prize details.

SOG Sketch Challenge

Hi'ya lovely peeps. I must have been in la-la land, cause when I woke up this morning somehow my brain thought it was Sunday. I was like, nice, I could sleep in. Then... reality set in. Hah... it's Tuesday!! Oh well....

And, it is May already. How time flies. Anyway, with new month, we have new challenge as well at Some Odd Girl. This month we have sketch challenge. Here's a look at the sketch.

And, here's my interpretation of the sketch. I flipped the sketch, by the way and instead of circle I went with the curvy frame. :) Just had to be different, didn't I? I am also entering this card to Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.

Fun sketch and I sure hope you will play along. Who knows, you could be the lucky one to win Tiny Baker Tia set. Check out the inspiration from the DT and enter the challenge HERE. Thanks so much for stopping by here and have a fabulous May!!  :)
