Seasons Givings Blog Hop

Hi'ya everyone! Happy 2020!! I wish you all a very happy New Year and may this year be a blessed, fantastic year for all of us filled with good health, prosperity and many things that makes you happy.

Welcome to the 8th annual Seasons Givings Blog Hop. What's fun & unique about this hop is every single blog that participate has giveaways. So, grab your cup of coffee or tea and browse around. Stick around and you'll see my giveaways on the bottom of  my post. :) And, big thank you to my dear friend, Latisha Yoast who organize this hop.

2019 had been quite a year for me. Creativity wise, I continue designing for SugarPea Designs, The Ton Stamps & Honey Bee Designs. I love designing for these companies & am very blessed that I get to work with them. And, thanks to Sugarpea, I had my very first illustration being made into a stamp set. You can check it out HERE. Yay!! Now, I am totally slacking in my goal to practice more on my floral watercolor. Hoping that I get to do this more in 2020.

Caring Hearts Card Drive reached 10 year milestone & had another successful year as we collected 33,345 cards and send to over 350 nursing homes throughout the US, Canada & Australia. To some people, delivering cards for Caring Hearts has become part of their family tradition & I am so honored and humble for this.

Personally, 2019 was quite a rocky year. Hubby and I went for a vacation in May and came home to news that rock our world. The moment we landed our phone was filled with messages. My MIL had cardiac arrest and was in the ICU. And after a month battle, she passed away. This was a shock for the whole family as she was healthy and just went in for knee surgery. Wasn't expecting any of this.

Great update on my niece, Shakira, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia back in 2018. She's been doing better. She's still going through treatment and we're optimistic that hopefully by mid 2020 she can finish her treatment. Her hair starts to grow back and she can't wait to have her long hair back. I love that she interact with me more and more, though. Every time we video call, I treasure these moments. And, I love that she has such a unique name for me.

There are many other stuff going on as well, but hey that's life, right?

My plan for 2020? I have no major goal. I just want things to be normal, to be able to find gratitude every day. Learn something new whenever possible and just enjoy & continue loving on my family.

Now, as we started the new  year, I look back and want to share my favorite projects from 2019. Seems to me that I didn't craft as much as the previous years, but that's okay. I am trying to be better at balancing family time, work and crafting time. :)

SuagrPea Designs Package

Mix Companies Package

Well peeps, that's all from me today. As this post go up, I would be in Jakarta visiting my mom and enjoying some much needed family time. I will be back in the States on January 9, so please bear with me. I will announce the winners on January 5, 2020, but won't be able to ship them till I come back.
Edited to add: my trip was cancelled as I got turned around when I was trying to check in for my flight. Apparently since my passport going to expire in less than 6 months I’d get denied entry. So, had to cancel my trip for another date. Saddened by this, then I found out Jakarta is experiencing one of the worst flooding in history. Maybe this is divine intervention. I am praying for everyone that got affected by this massive flooding.

Now, grab your favorite drink and hop along. Thank you for stopping by here and I wish you all the best for 2020. May the coming year brings you luck, joy, good health and prosperity. Cheers....

SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Day 3

Hi all. Welcome to day 3 of SugarPea Design sweet peek week. Today, we are sharing some sets that would be perfect for Valentine or just simply to show your loved ones how much you love them.

For my card, I am using Dangle Hearts Cover Plate, Love Word w/Shadow, and Sentiments of Love.

Before die cutting the panel, I first inked it up with various ink colors. Adhere the cut panel to the card base. For the sentiment, I die cut the word love from cardstock and the shadow part from vellum. I layered the word love three times and then add color gradient with Copic marker. Finished by stamping the word Sending You from Sentiments of Love set.

Here's a look at the sets that I am using today.

So, what do you think of these lovely sets? I hope you love all the sweet peeks we've been showing you. Now, how would you like to win a $15 Gift Certificate to our store? Leave a comment below. You have all week to comment! Winners will be announced on SugarPea Blog on Sunday, December 15th.

SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Day 2

Hi all!! Squeallll..... Today is the day that I finally able to share my excitement over my love of pugs. I have a set that I originally did as a painting made into a stamp set!!

Over a year ago, I attended a watercolor class where we're supposed to do a Corgi. But, as many of you know, I am super partial to Pug. So, while everyone else doing Corgi, I created my own Pug. I was very happy with the way my Pug turned out that I draw it again at home and sent it to Wendy and asked the possibility of turning it into a stamp. And, she graciously did!!

Below is my original painting.

I was so in love with Pugs, that I keep painting them in different way. This one below I made it with rainbow balloons. This one I made it on 8.5 x 11 size cardstock & its on display in my craft room & the inspiration for my card.

For my card, I started by die-cutting the panel using Card Front Element Builder & stencil the background using the new brick stencil (more on this on Thursday). Stamped, colored & fussy cut the pug as I want to change the tilt of the Pug. And since the work space is smaller then my original display, I only did 3 balloons. :)

This totally made me think of my Pug, Milo whom I lost back in December 2004. He had a long tongue that always sticking out. I love that boy so much, my heart still hurt when I think of him. He'll forever have a special spot in my heart.

I also covered the balloons with glossy accent and add sentiment to finish the card.

Make sure you stop by SugarPea blog to enter the giveaway and also leave a comment here and on the team's blogs for additional chance. Thank you for allowing me to share my excitement and I hope you love this set. Thank you so much for stopping by here. Have a lovely day!

2019 Caring Hearts Prize Winners Announcement

Hi everyone. Phew, what a way to celebrate 10th year of Caring Hearts Card Drive. By the end of October, we were struggling with our cards count, then, after some social media sharing by some amazing people, suddenly the last 2 weeks of the card drive we received an avalanche of cards.

Now that we finished with all the paperwork & tally, the total for the whole US, Canada & Australia is 33,345 cards.  And 19,615 of them just at my end. So, if at the beginning we needed cards, at the end, we were needing more nursing homes. Thank you to everyone who helped me with this. Also, thank you for the postage donation. Shipping price has increased quite a bit & last year we were in the red. Thankfully this year we received more donations that allow us to cover more homes.

It's been a stressful, crazy year for me personally and I wasn't even sure that I was going to be able to do Caring Hearts this year. But, we did it!! I am so grateful for my team of volunteers. They kept me going year after year. They cheered me on to keep doing it & their dedication truly humble me. I wish I could hug each of them in person. Fun tidbit, none of us ever meet in person. But if we do, they'll get big, big hugs from me.

This card drive has grown so much. In our first year in 2010, I started with 750 cards and I was doing it all by myself. I was only able to send cards to a few nursing home. Now, we're sending cards to over close to 350 nursing homes. And, it's all because of YOU! Your support and generosity are what make it so successful. And, I am so very grateful for your support & kindness.

Now, what many been waiting for. The winners for Caring Hearts prizes! For all the winners, I'll be emailing all of you this weekend. As you can see the list is pretty long, so please bear with me. Congratulations & thank you for all your supports. And also please, please support all these companies that every year generously supporting Caring Hearts. :)

Caring Hearts Prize Announcement Delay

Hi all. I know I promised to announce the Caring Hearts prize winners today, November 27, 2019.

However I will have to postpone it till Friday. I've been working non stop on packing the cards for the nursing homes and trying to get all  the paperwork organized. I worn myself out.

With tomorrow being Thanksgiving, I decided to give myself a little break instead of forcing myself too rush and get everything done today. Time to pay attention to the family. I usually email all the winners as well right after I announced the winners and at this time it just getting a bit overwhelming.

I apologized for the delay. So, winners will be up on my blog on Friday morning, November 29, 2019. Thank you all for your understanding and patience. Have a blessed Thanksgiving and enjoy being with your family. Hugs.

Caring Hearts Card Drive Update

Hi all. I just want to give you all some update on Caring Hearts Card Drive. Since it is our 10th one, I want to also give a glimpse of behind the scene.

To start with, at first the number of cards that coming in was super low. I mean like only 1/10 of what we received last year. My team and I started to panic a bit because we only have like 2 weeks left and we have a lot of nursing homes on our list that we'd like to cover. Then several dear friends step in and share the card drive post on their blog and all over social media. Suddenly I got lots of email with question about the card drive. So, I decided to extend the due date to allow more time for people to send in their cards.

And, people, low & behold you all really step up!! During the last 2 weeks of the card drive you send in your cards and each day I could receive 40 to 70 packages. Some people even send two packages when they heard we're low.

My team of volunteers also confirmed that the amount of package they received went up. So, thankfully we're able to cover all the nursing homes on our list and more!! We actually ended up with more cards and able to add even more nursing homes on our list. I have people calling left and right to find more nursing homes.

Since most of the packages were received on the past 2 weeks before the card drive end, needless to say this past 2 weeks been crazy, especially on my end as I received the majority of the packages. Every day as soon as I come home from work, I unpack and sort through all the cards, making sure they're signed, fixed any loose embellishment and stuff them in the envelope. I've been repeating this cycle every day for 2 straight weeks that I think hubby and my fur babies feel a bit neglected.

Right after the card drive end, my awesome girlfriends come over and helped me stuffed more envelopes and pack some boxes. I couldn't do this on this scale without them.

In case you're wondering why I pile the cards in groups like pictured above, it's because when we pack the cards for each nursing home, I like to make sure each place get good mix of cards. Part of the fun is checking out where their cards come from. Each pile is from different card makers, so when we pack, we go around the table picking up card from each pile and repeat the process. To some, it may not matter that the cards all come from the same person, but I personally feel it's more fun when they're from all different people, different place.

I am working as fast as I can. I know many will want to know about the prizes. I am hoping to finish everything by this weekend. I will announce the prize winners here on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

Today I am shipping out about 40 packages and will ship the rest by this coming Monday. Hubby was my strong man to carry all these boxes from our 2nd floor dining room to 1st floor. This is maybe about 1/5 of all the packages we shipped as each of my team also have quite a bit to mail out. Even with all these boxes out, my dining table still full. I am not done.

LOL, every year I told hubby it's going to be my last year doing it, because it is tiring and can be overwhelming especially when there's also a lot of stuff going on in my personal life. Then by mid of the following year I forgot about all of it and decided to do it again. Hah! It does bring me joy when I know it brighten someone's day. The world need more kindness and this is our own little way to do so.

I want to thank all of you who send in your cards. I really appreciate all your support for our card drive. I am humbled by your generosity and honored that you're sharing your talent & creation for strangers that you never met. For me this is the true meaning of Christmas, when you do kind things for strangers with no expectation. Just sharing the love. <3

The Ton November Release Day 2

** For Caring Hearts Card Drive post please scroll down or click HERE **

Hi peeps! Welcome to day 2 of The Ton November release. I hope you enjoy the many beautiful projects from day 1 release. Today we continue with more sneak peeks and from my end, I am showcasing the pretty Coming Up Morning Glories & Morning Glory Greetings.

I started by heat embossing the Coming Up Morning Glories with gold embossing powder on a purple cardstock panel. Trim and adhere the panel to the card base. I know it barely show on the screen, but I actually added some shadows around the center of the flowers with purple ink. Since it didn't show up so well, I decided to layer the card by adding the flower from Morning Glory Greetings. Colored the flower with Copic and adhere to the cardbase with foam adhesive. Finishd by stamping the sentiment.

And, we are giving away a stamp set for days 1 and 2 for our November Release. The two winners will receive a stamp set of choice from this new release (excluding bundles). To enter this giveaway, leave a comment here and also on each team member's blogs. Winners will be announced on The Ton blog on November 14.

The team has created some fabulous projects for this release, please check out their blog for more sneak peeks and inspiration Thank you all for stopping by here and join us this weekend for our Instagram hop.

The Ton November Release Day 1

** For Caring Hearts Card Drive post please scroll down **

Hi all and welcome to The Ton November release. I am super excited for this release since it include a couple sets that's featuring my favorite bird, the chickadees!!

The moment I saw the line up for this release, I knew immediately that I will be showcasing the gorgeous Winter Chickadee set. I am not sure what is it about chickadees, but for me personally they bring the feeling of comfort and warmth.

For this card I started by die-cutting the chickadee and the branch using the matching Winter Chickadee SVG file and then stamped the layered image on them. Put aside and I trim the panel at an angle and inked it up for subtle shadow background.

I cut a couple patterned paper to layer under the panel. Before adhering them and the panel to the  card base, I also partially die cut some leaves from 2 Piece Foliage Coverplate dies. I didn't die cut the whole thing since I only want to use some of the leaves. This is a great way to get more use of your existing dies.

Arrange everything and adhere them to the card base. Then I glued down the branch and the bird. Finish by stamping the sentiment.

I just love, love, love this set. Ever since I started card making, I always have a weakness to bird stamps. And, I have to say, I think this set is one of the prettiest bird set out there.

GIVEAWAY
We can't have new release without a giveaway, right? We'll be picking one winner from blog comments for each debut day to win a stamp of choice (excluding bundles) from our new November Release. Simply leaves a comment here and also on my teammates blog. The team has created some amazing projects for this release. Please check out their blog below for more inspiration.

2019 Caring Hearts Card Drive

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the 10th Annual Caring Hearts Card Drive. WOW!! I can't believe we're hitting our 10th year mark.

When I started this card drive, I honestly thought it'd be for that year only as I wasn't sure whether I will even have people participating. I was super green and thankful to have Jennifer McGuire's guidance on running a card drive. Your support made this possible for me to keep continue and I am grateful. Many of the places that's been receiving our cards said that receiving the cards is something they're looking forward to every Christmas.

The purpose of our card drive is to collect handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes or live alone.

The holidays are about family, kindness, and joy. During this time many of the elderly living in nursing homes may feel extra lonely or miss their families. We can bring a smile to their faces and brighten their holiday season simply by sharing our love of card making. A simple gesture to let them know that they are not forgotten. That someone is still thinking of them. We all love making cards and what’s better than knowing that our creations can bring a smile to others, right?

Our team of helpful volunteers are all ready to assist us in delivering the cards to selected nursing homes.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:
  • This card drive will be run from October 4 to November 8, 2019. We need to receive your cards by November 8, 2019. UPDATE: We're extending the card drive to Nov. 15, 2019
  • Please make the cards for Christmas or Holiday Wishes only.
  • All cards need to have a message inside (can be stamped or hand written).
  • Sign your name and where you are from inside the card.
  • Include an envelope for each card and please don't seal the envelope.
  • Please stick to standard size A2 or 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card as this will help us in packing more efficiently.
  • Please don't use any pins or loose glitter (for safety reasons).
  • This is totally optional, but if you'd like to include $3 or $5 to help with shipping, it'll be much appreciated. We cover the shipping cost ourselves & postage prices have increased. Last year we struggle to cover the postage cost, so any donation toward shipping would help us tremendously.

For US, you can mail the cards to:
  • Vera Yates, 1314 Roy St., Houston, TX 77007 (Note: if you're in Houston and would like to drop off the cards directly please email me at: wirianta at hotmail.com)
  • Cindy Groh, 111 10 Mile Rd NW Sparta, MI 49345

For Australia:
  • Deb McCleary, CHCD, PO Box 54, Watsonia, VIC, 3087 Australia

For Canada:
  • Caroline Bredeson, 11 Ave. des Oblats, Unit 112, Ottawa, Ontario, K1S 5V8, Canada
  • Rita Andrews, 28 West Gissing Rd, Cochrane, Alberta T4C 1L6, Canada

In each package, PLEASE include THIS 2019 SUBMISSION FORM. This helps us in keeping track for prizes! For each card you send, you will get a chance. So the more cards you send, the better your chances.

NURSING HOMES
The nursing homes that we supported are based on what people suggested to us. If you want your local nursing homes to receive cards from the card drive, please email me the name of the nursing homes and the number of residents, so we can make sure that we send enough cards. The number of nursing homes we support are totally based on how many cards we received. To keep things organized, we assigned the 5 collecting addresses above.

SPECIAL CARING HEARTS SET
SugarPea Designs has created a special Caring Hearts set called Christmas Cheers just for this card drive. It's super cute and I am so honored and humble that they did this. I just love the bears and the owls on this set. Below you could see the set.

To thank you for your generosity in supporting this drive, we have several PRIZES ready for several winners. There will be many winners. :)

I'll update the prize list as more prizes coming in. And huge thank you to all the fabulous, generous companies who support this card drive by donating awesome prizes.
