Trick or Treat

Hi peeps. How's your Friday going. I am popping in for a quick post to share this fun Halloween card that I made for Purple Onion Designs Acorn Trail mini release.

For this card, I used Trouble (the bat), Spook (the owl) and Scary (the rabbit). To create the moon, I simply create a mask and fill it with ink. The glittery strip of paper on the bottom is from The Ton stamps.

Also.... be ready for our holiday release. On Tuesday, November 1, 2016, Purple Onion Designs will be releasing Stacey Yacula's Snowy Day collection (be ready for cuteness overload!!) and I have made create several fun projects for this. So stay tune and come back next week to check it out. Cheers....

Let's Celebrate

Purple Onion Designs is releasing 4 new Stacey Yacula stamps for fall/Halloween, called Acorn Trail collection, available for purchase at Purple Onion Designs now.

Today, I am sharing one of the card I made using this collection. I used Nutmeg - Autumn Owl to create this fun fall celebration card.

I seriously love Stacey Yacula's designs. I followed her on Instagram and she just has the cutest & cozy designs.

Another reason, I have to celebrate, hubby and I are getting closer to reaching our dream of building our own home. We work for construction company and we finally got a spot for our townhome. We're submitting the plan for permit and cross fingers before the end of the year we'll break ground!! We're pretty darn excited for this as once our house done, it means we no longer have to do long commute from the suburb.

And, yay for cooler weather! We finally have fall weather here in Houston. Happy Friday, y'all!

Believe In The Season

Hi peeps! Am popping in to share a couple cards for Simon Says Stamps Believe In The Season new release.

I received Color Me Trees set and boy, oh boy, they're so fun to color! They're perfect for my pile of Caring Hearts cards. Here's my 1st card using the tree that makes me think of stained glass.

It took me almost an hour to color all 3 trees, but I didn't mind. It was therapeutic, relaxing and most important, I love the end results.

Next, I played with this tree that totally reminds me of the kind of doodling that I used to make when I was in college and feeling bored. Hah!!

Now, the finishing touch is the shimmer. On both card, I covered the trees with shimmer marker. Here's a close up look of the card and you can see the pretty shimmer.

Pretty, isn't it? I can't wait to browse around and see all the fun sets from this release. That's all from me today and I hope you enjoy both cards. Cheers....

My card today is implementing the lesson from day 2 on making slider card. Here's what the card looks like when you slide out the insert.

Here's how it looks with the slider in. Pretty clean & simple.

Then you pull out the slider & tadaaa.... it becomes a much happier card. ;)

Christmas Monkey

Hi everyone. I just want to pop in real quick to share this fun Christmas card I made for Caring Hearts Card Drive using the Caring Critters set that SugarPea Designs made specially for the card drive.

That's the beauty of these sets SPD made for Caring Heart, they really focus on kindness and can be used throughout the year. Yet, they can easily be transformed into Christmas card by combining them with Christmas stamp set.

I simply combined the monkey with SPD Funky Wreath - All Seasons, added some red berries and sentiment, voila.... from every day monkey, he becomes Christmas monkey. Hah!! My Christmas monkey is swinging on a wreath carrying card to brighten someone's day.

Now, don't forget, you can win this set along with the other 2 Caring Hearts sets simply by leaving comment on my blog post HERE and also on SugarPea Designs blog post HERE by tomorrow (October 7, 2016). Good luck!

Caring Hearts Card Drive 2016

Hi all. We are back for the 7th year for our annual Caring Hearts Card Drive. The purpose of our card drive is to collect holiday cards for the elderly that lives in nursing homes. I started this card drive 7 years ago, in 2010 in honor of my mom's request. That first year, we collected 750 cards. And each year it continue to grow bigger. Last year we received over 22,000 cards and distribute the cards to over 100 nursing homes throughout the US, Canada and Australia.

Jennifer McGuire and I are excited to continue bringing holiday cheers to many nursing homes. This year, we are branching out to the United Kingdom and this will allow us to start distributing in UK/Europe.

The holidays are about family, kindness, and joy. During this time many of the elderly who lives in nursing homes would really feel the loneliness or missing their family. Wouldn't it be so awesome if we can bring a smile to their face & brighten their holiday season simply by sharing our love of card making? A simple gesture to let them know that they are not forgotten. That someone still thinking of them.

We all love making cards and what’s better than knowing our creations can bring a smile to others, right? Some helpful people already agree to help us deliver the cards to selected nursing homes.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

  • This card drive will be going on from October 1 to November 25, 2016. We need to receive your card by November 25, 2015.
  • Please make the cards for Christmas or Holiday Wishes. Anyone can send a card, your children, church group, scout troops, etc.

Also, if you 'd like to help us promote the card drive, whenever you're sharing your projects for Caring Hearts on social media, please use the hashtag #caringheartscarddrive. Part of my life goal is to spread kindness and make kindness a trend. :)

The nursing homes that we supported are based on what people suggested to us. If you want your local nursing homes to receive cards from the card drive, please email me or Jennifer the name of the nursing homes and the number of residents, so we can make sure that we send enough cards. Each year, we never know how many nursing homes we can support as the number are totally based on how many cards we received. To keep things organized, we assigned the 7 collecting addresses above. This way we can keep track of the amount of cards as well as for prize purpose.

I'll update the prize list as more prizes coming in. And huge thank you to all the fabulous, generous companies who support this card drive by donating awesome prizes.
