Birthday Peacock

Hi peeps. How's thing going? We are currently in the process of building our new place, so that means, we're also in the process of getting our current house ready for sale. Anddddd.... that means lots of sorting, cleaning & decluttering. Fun stuff! Pretty much, every weekend, I am slowly going room by room, cleaning & start packing what could be packed. Also lots of recycling and filling out donation bag.

In between, I did manage to play with some crafty stuff. A couple weekends ago, I had a crafty get together with Therese Schaefer, Alba Sevadilla & Jacqueline Stephens (all I met through Caring Hearts Card Drive) and it's like having a stamping store to browse! We each bring to the table our stamping stash to share.

Jacqueline let me borrow this beautiful Hero Arts Peacock stencil & stamp set. Swoon... I love this stencil!! I use Clarity Brush to color the stencil area & love the soft result.

For the peacock itself, I went with bolder color to make it stand out against the background. Oh yes, I also cover the card with lots of shimmer!! After all, peacock tail usually looks shimmery under the sun. :)

Create With Marcie Sharp

Hi peeps! How's thing going? You know, one of the thing that I love about card making is the wonderful people I get to meet because of it. Whether it's someone that I have met in person and online. Well, one of those girl is Marcie Sharp.

So, last week she asked me if I want to play along with her blog weekly series called Crate Together, where another cardmaker and her challenge each other to create a card from a theme or limited supplies or inspiration photo, etc. Well, since I always love creating with others, of course I say yes.

We decided to CASE each other. Since, I am a fan of happy card, I chose to CASE her unicorn card from this POST. This is her card:

Such a happy card, right? I  love the layer of clouds and the cute unicorn. So, here's my card:

I create my own happy card by using Taylored Expression Rolling Clouds dies along with this cuties from My Favorite Things Hog Heaven set. On this set, only one of the piggy have wing, so I just draw one for the one on the left side. If you click on the picture you can see the bigger picture and hopefully you could see the pretty glitters on the wings.

Oh... and that piggy in a barrel is from my own critters collection. I have a whole set of cute piggies figurines. I seriously could not resist their cuteness. I love collecting cute stuff. And, this one is perfect to complement the card, right?

Thanks For Everything

I'm so glad that I decided to take the Online Card Classes Stretch Your Stamp 2 class. I was in creative slump and this class is just what I needed to get my creativity going again. I have created several cards ever since I took this class.

Here's one of the card I made from one of the homework assignment following Jennifer McGuire's metallic on black lesson.

I used my favorite Hero Arts background stamp for this card. The sentiment die is from Simon Says Stamp.

This card is definitely one of those quick card. And, I am glad that in the making of this card I get to use my pearl-ex that just been sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Yay...

Gallery Idol Round 4

Happy Monday. Today, I continue my Gallery Idol journey. It's been fun & a bit nerve wrecking. Luckily my work keep me crazy busy lately, that I don't get to fret too much. I have to say that the girls in this GI blow my mind with their creativity. Everyone really step up and create amazing creations that makes me feel so honored to be among them.

For this round the challenge is to use border stamp creatively. This is quite a challenge as my stash of border stamp is pretty limited. And, I know that I don't want to use border stamp just as border. I have seen quite a few tribal prints on shirts that I found interesting and use that as the base for my card idea.

Lucky for me, I have this triangle border from Studio Calico Darling Sentiments set that fit for the look that I want to create. Bold, colorful, tribal pattern.

Yep, that triangle border on the bottom translate into the pattern on this elephant:

                                    

There was a lot of careful coloring. Finger cramp, check. eyes crossed, check. Aching shoulder & hand, check. I had to do one for practice just so I can decide on the color combo that I want to use. Once that decided, on to the real thing. It took me awhile to finish coloring this card. Hah... I feel like I almost couldn't straighten my fingers by the time I finished. But, I think the end result is worth it.

The bottom border was created using the chevron border from Lawn Fawn Chevron Background set. I stamped the chevron border twice, off setting the second one so it create diamond pattern border. Then color all those tiny spaces with Copic markers.

This card is definitely bold & colorful. And, there's also a hint of gold. I outlined the elephant shape with gold metallic paper.

I am very thankful that I have made it this far. I really, really appreciate your support & kind words & your vote. Wouldn't be here if not for your support. This Gallery Idol has definitely push my creativity, made me step up my work and I couldn't be happier with the cards I made.

Clean & Simple

Hi peeps. I've been wanting to try out this technique as shown on Online Card Classes Clean Simple 3.

 

I think next time I want to use brighter colors, though.  I use Hero Arts stamp for the background. It's one of my favorite Hero Arts stamp, because it's so pretty.

 

I decided to do Mother's Day card early as I have a girl in my office building that been asking me for some Mother's Day cards.

 

 

 

So, what do you think of online classes? I find myself enjoying them more and more. Of course, I am still selective on which classes to take, but so far the classes I've taken been fun and informative. I just wish I have more time to practice what I learned. Time... we all can use some more extra time in the day, don't we?

And, here's my card. Yes, it's one bright, happy pandamonium card! Can you guess what art work inspired this card? Yep... my own version of Andy Warhol. ;)

Then, since I was all inspired and my desk covered with stuff, I figured what the heck, just go ahead and make 1 more card. This time following this sketch.

Hm... yeah... you might need sunglasses for this one. Brightness!!

Blooming Birthday Wishes

Yesterday, I was super happy to see THIS announcement on Moxie Fab. First time I get pick for Trigger Targets. And I want to thank everyone for their sweet & kind comments. I really appreciate you girls. So happy.

 

Now, is anyone as obsessed with The Voice as I do? I think this season is one of their best one. Strong vocalist and I am very impressed with Usher coaching. Never been an Usher fan, but I do now.

 

I was soooo disappointed that Amber Carrington didn't make it to the final. I think she has awesome voice and every week always blow the judge with her performance. I do like Michelle & Danielle as well, so I am happy that they made it. But, I think Amber deserves the spot more than the Swon Brothers. Nothing against them or anything, I just prefer Amber. I think she show more versatility that she can sing something other than country songs.

 

The way hubby look at it, he said the show is called "The Voice" not "Voices". We're both pretty disappointed as well when Judith & Sarah didn't make it. Oh well.... But, I have to say I love seeing Terry McDermott & Nicholas David back on the stage. They were my favorite from last season.

 

Anyway, let's move on to card. I made this card a while back. It's one of the publication reject. But, since I didn't make any card this week, I figure it's time to share this one.

 

This flower background from Hero Arts is really a beautiful set. Here, I heat embossed the flower background and then rub the color in. Die-cut the label and adhere it with pop-dots. I think I'll have to re-do this card in spring color. I made this card for the fall call, but as much as I love fall color in nature, I am not a fan when it comes to card. I love pretty, cheerful or pastel color.

Creative Weekend

Yesterday, my li'l guy wasn't too happy with me. LOL, it was time for his annual check up to the vet and he got a few shots and a poke. And, I think he knew the moment we step in, because he was bucking and refusing to follow the vet assistant to get weighed in. Normally he follow the assistant with no problem.

I guess he just knew that he will get shots. He got clean bill of health and the vet even said he got gorgeous teeth, because they're sparkling white! We made it up by taking him to the dog park right after. And, I am pretty sure he forgave us. Haha... He was glued to my lap all afternoon. I had to make sure I have all my craft supplies in front of me, so I don't have to keep moving around and he can continue sleeping on my lap. Yeah... he's not spoiled... at all. ;)

Today, I decided to change my blog header. As usual, I learned a lot from trial and error. I never took photoshop class. I do everything with the help of google and just pure trial and error. But, I end up with results that I am pretty happy with.

Since, I love design that involves bird, I stick with that design. What do you think of my blog header?

Then, since I am in full creative mode and I have a bunch of new Hero Arts goodies to play with, I decided to play along with this month Hero Arts spring challenge.

This color combo is definitely very springy. And I am glad that I actually make cards with flowers that turned out quite pretty. I always feel like I am struggling when I play with flower stamp. I simply stamped the whole background stamp and color it in with Copic markers.

Now, I think I will go and watch The Rise of The Guardians. I may have no kids, but I sure am love animations. :) Enjoy the rest of your weekend, peeps.

Flowers, Feather & Butterfly

Happy Friday! Let's start with some Grey's Anatomy love, shall we?? This show is pretty much the only show that I'd make sure I don't miss. I love this show a lot!

And, I know many of you DVR-ing the show and might not seen last night episode, yet. So, without revealing much, I just want to say that at the end of the show, the one thing that trigger me to cry was this simple written word "Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital". Sigh... I still miss Lexy & Mark. And, I love how Yang and Owen are back  together.

Okay, let's move on from my Grey's obsession. After the show, I was able to create just for fun for Moxie Fab Elegant Emerald challenge and A Blog Named Hero free style challenge. The inspiration picture from Moxie Fab is simply gorgeous and I really want to play along.

Love the color, the pattern on the dress, the feathers, the butterfly and the pop of red. As soon as I saw this pic, I have this idea swirling in my head and this is what I came up with:

Recently, I received a generous presents of Hero Arts goodies (thank you, Jennifer!) and one of them is this gorgeous flower background called "Flower Medley Background" that I think is simply stunning.  The sentiment is also from Hero Arts.

For this card, I stamped it with Versamark ink to duplicate the tone on tone pattern like the dress. Cut out a couple feathers that I colored with Luminarte twinkling H2O paint (so these feathers actually has gorgeous nice shimmer), add butterfly, and pop in some red pearls (well, it's actually white pearls colored with Copic marker). I decided to go with black sentiment to pull in the black color from  the wing of the butterfly as shown on the inspiration pic.

I am very happy with the way this card turned out. This card get my mojo going. I think I will have lots of fun creating this weekend. :) What about you? Any crafting plan this weekend?

I made this card just for fun and to use up my stash. A while back when I cleaned up my room and realizing how many papers I have, I put myself on paper diet and determine to use up most of my stash before adding more. Trust me, it's like trying to resist cheesecake. Very h.a.r.d.

And.... guess what?? One week from now, I'll be hanging out with my girls at CHA!! So excited! One more week!! Going to CHA while on paper diet... hah... hopeless.

Lily Pad Cards Star Challenge

Happy Friday, everyone! Quick post as I have quite a long to do list for today. We have a new challenge at Lily Pad Cards sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. The challenge is to create any project featuring star. 

And. here's my card using the fabulous glitter POW paper from American Crafts. This paper is so gorgeous and no flaky glitter either.This card is my fourth card that using stuff from my girl get together. 

Seriously, getting together with crafty friends was just what I needed to get out of creativity block. :)

Faith

Last night as I snuggled with hubby and the doggies, I was reminded how blessed my life is. Granted it's filled with many ups and downs, after all that's what make life a life. You can only fully appreciate the good things in life when you have experience bad stuff as well. And, I have went through some bad moments that makes me appreciate my life now very much.

And, one thing that I've learned to do through the ups and downs is to pray. Not only in bad time but in good time as well. I truly get this from my mom. You cannot only pray for when you needed help, you also need to pray when life is good. Praying saying thank you is just as important as praying asking for help, don't you think?

And, when things seem so bleak, I think as human being the one thing that help us keep going are hope and faith. As long as we have faith, we'll keep trying, keep going. Have faith that thing will gets better.

Oh, before any of you wonder if something happened to me, nothing is wrong. Ha... sometime I just go through one of my mood, where I just feel reflective and pondering about life. I am deep like  that... sometime. LOL. Other time, I am just plain goofy. :)

Stamps from Hero Arts & Papertrey Ink.

I just love this card. Trinh, see... I used the stuff that I stamped from our weekend get together. From all the stamped images that I made this past weekend, this is one of my favorite. The color is soooo me.  I think with it's soft colors it will brighten anyone's day and  the sentiment hopefully will give encouragement for when they need it.

I am entering this card for Paper Crafts 2012 Gallery Idol.

Another note, if last weekend I get to hang out with the Texas' girls, this weekend, I get to hang out with my Florida girl, Laurel Beard. I am so excited! I miss this tiny girl (hah... I don't get to say tiny to others that often) and this time our hubby will get to meet each other, too. So, looking forward to this weekend!!

Lily Pad Cards Rainy Day Challenge

Hi all. Second post for today. We have new challenge from Lily Pad Cards sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. It's all bout Rainy Day.

I was a bit stump at first, but then, I realized I don't really have to take the whole thing literally. All you need to do is to create any project that has some rain or rain related images, thoughts, etc. I mean umbrella kind of associate with rainy day, so that's where I went with my card. :)

Right now, I am loving the POW glitter papers from American Crafts. They are fabulous. It's glitter paper without the glitter mess. I mean you can rub the heck out of this paper and no glitter will fall off.  It works wonderfully with die-cut machine as well.

Shaped Cards

Squeezing in a couple shaped card for this month Hero Arts challenge. I decided to go with the shaped card theme since currently I am taking the online class A Cut Above and on day 3 we were learning about shaped card.

And, I finally get to use my new Hero Arts Studio Calico Latice Background stamp. Love this stamp. I think it's gorgeous and can be used for any theme. Here's a look at the first card. 

I really dig the way this one turned out. Stepping out a bit of my typical clean style, but I think the card came out pretty nice. Am also entering this card for Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes challenge.

Next is a butterfly shaped card inspired by Jennifer McGuire's card. For the life of me, I couldn't find the post where she posted her original butterfly card, but I know I want to CASE it. :) She's just so talented and I just adore her style. And she is so nice in person as well. Love her.

For both cards, I used my favorite tool of all time, my Silhouette. I have my Silhouette SD going on 3 years now and still love it. And it still working amazingly well. I am so very tempted by the new Silhouette Cameo, but for now it just stay on my wish list. Sigh... my Silhouette truly is the gift that keep on giving. I really should be their spoke person considering I gushed about my li'l machine all the time, don't you agree? ;)

You Make My Heart Happy

Happy Monday, lovely peeps. How was your weekend? Mine was super productive. Not in a crafty way, but hubby and I finished re-doing our bedroom, the guest bedroom, and most importantly my craft room.

I have to say I am very blessed with a super thoughtful hubby. He made sure that the painter put my room as priority to finish. I mean, thoughtful gesture like this from hubby reminds me how lucky I am and how thankful I am for him. To have someone that knows me so well, know what makes me happy. He knows that when it comes to my craft room I like to get things done quick. That I'd get antsy if I have to wait.

LOL, Saturday night, he joked that I got withdrawal symptom since I cannot do any crafting or be on my computer. Granted, I have his i-pad to use to check my email and stuff, but I really do prefer my big computer screen. And, yes... I was antsy. Haha...

I'll be sharing pic of my room once I get it organized. Let just say the color makes me want to be on the beach. Hmm... is that good or bad for creative mojo? ;)

Now, let's talk card. Currently I am taking A Cut Above class and one of lesson was focusing on window card. So, here's my window card using colors that makes me happy. All stamps are from Hero Arts. Also made this card for A Blog Named Hero cards with a view challenge.

Lily Pad Challenge

Yay for Friday! And yay... for waking up with no sneezing. So far.... 

Now, it's time for a new Lily Pad Cards challenge sponsored by Letraset. This time Virginia provide this gorgeous inspiration pic to get our creativity juice going. 

And here's my flowery card.

For this card, it just looks like I did a kissing technique. But, I really didn't. I already stamped and colored the flowers, when I felt like it still need a bit more oompph... Then, I remember last month Hero Arts challenge where you stamp a background using white ink to create a velvety look. It's not quite that technique either, as I decided to stamp the musical score with white ink after the card is almost done. Hah... Sometime I just improvise to get the card to the way I want it.

In real life, you could see the white musical background continue onto the white cardstock giving it an extra pattern, so it doesn't look so boring. ;)

Freedom Is Not Free

I saw this pic on Pinterest and the note underneath said: "A reminder that whether you like to admit it or not, whether you agree with it or not, your freedom is not free. It never has been, it never will be. Someone gave all for YOU."

This pic totally stopped  me in my track and the quote is so true. It also reminds me that for all the soldiers that serve our country, their spouse, their kids, their parents serve with them. They're the ones that have to live with the day-to-day worries whether their wife, husband, or kid will be safe or not in the war zone. They're the ones who has to be a single parents while their spouse serve in another place.

In honor of Veteran's Day, May Arts is taken part of OWH Blog Hop. With the other girls in the DT, am sharing my card on May Arts blog. You can check out what we all created HERE.

And, this is my card:

I am using bleach to stamp my flower image and I really love the way it came out on this particular cardstock. Instead of just coming out washed white like the typical result when you used bleach for stamping, this one came out like teal color. LOVE!

Thank you to all our troops & their families for our freedom. Thank you for reminding me not to complain about minor things. If you have a house to come home to, have a bed to sleep in, have food to eat, really we have nothing to complain. We're luckier than so many people. Not just the troops (who often have to sleep in dirt, deal with harsh weather), consider the homeless, the people in poor country, the people who lives in war zone, you'll realize how blessed you are.

As I count my blessings, I am also grateful for this hobby. :) Making cards bringing me lots of joy. Here's another card for Cards That Care card drive, using the latest releases from A Day For Daisies.

Day 1 With Kelly

A few months ago, when I went through a creative slump, Kelly Latevola invited me to pair up with her in doing a challenge. We decided to do it again. This time we pick some pics from Pinterest as our source of inspiration.

I am addicted to Pinterest. So many gorgeous images and so many things you can learn about. Anyway, for the next three days, starting today we'll be sharing our project. For today we based our card on this gorgeous bird pic.

And, here's my card. I know, Kelly, you must be gasping right now... that I actually use flower stamp.  LOL, for our last challenge, I whined on how hard it was for me to use flower stamp. Seriously, as much as I love flower stamps, it's always quite a challenge for me to use them. But, this time, I am pretty happy with the result.

I am also making this card for Hero Arts monthly challenge.
