SugarPea Designs Summer Release: Day 2

Hi peeps, welcome to Day 2 of our Summer Product Release! We are sharing Sweet Peek for the 15 NEW products that will be available for purchase starting this Friday, June 15th at 6 PM EST in the SPD Store.

Today, we are introducing Geometric Floral Coverplate, Stuck On You Stamp & Dies set. I chose to focus on the Geometric Floral Coverplate set and made this card below.

I love the way this card turned out, but oh my goodness!! The whole time doing it part of me was like what was I thinking?? Took me forever to in lay the cut out pieces. So, I first die color a white cardstock panel with some oxide distress ink. Once that done, I ran it through the die cut machine and put that aside. Next, I ran a black cardstock through.

I adhere the black cut out to the card base and then one by one pick up the cut out color parts and laid it inside the black frame one by one. Took me about half a day. Hah! Luckily, I was doing this during a crafting day with friends, so at least I get to chat while working on this. The thanks die is from previous release.

Here's a peek at all the sets that being introduced today.

A labor of love for sure! Totally gorgeous!!! I've not done this detailed of an inlay before myself, but I have seen others use Press and Seal to keep all the pieces together long enough to glue them down and inlay the main piece around it. I think it requires 2 pieces of Press and Seal... 1 to put on the back to pull it out of the die and 1 to put on the front so you can peel the 1st one off the back and remove the main die cut that keeps all the innies in place. Worth a try if you ever want to repeat the look. Would be interesting to know which method is faster? Which is easier? I leave the challenging cards to the experts... until I need something impressive for a special event. Then there is Youtube to save my buns!

This is fabulous! I can believe it was a time consuming process, but well worth it in the end.

Vera I love what you have done with the die cut floral background. I hope you die cut them on adhesive paper so it was easier to adhere the pieces into the gaps. If not, well as you said at least you were crafting with friends and could chat whilst you were doing the in-laying. A great result though, will have to attempt this technique myself. xx
