Hi everyone and welcome to SugarPea Designs Caring Hearts Special Release. We're hosting this special hop in celebration of the upcoming 7th annual Caring Hearts Card Drive (it starts tomorrow!!)
Jennifer McGuire, me, along with our team of volunteers are busy working behind the scene as we're getting ready to collect handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes from October 1 to November 25. I will have all of the card drive details up tomorrow, here, on my blog.
When I started this card drive, I did it to honor my mom's caring heart. She's the kind of people who do many kind things for others and when she asked me to send my handmade cards to those that lives in nursing home, of course I said yes. Never thought that one day, we'd make stamp sets to celebrate the card drive.
It's been one year in the making. When Chaitali Narla, one of the designer for SugarPea & Wendy, the owner told me that they want to design stamp set for me, I was so surprised & touch by their support. During our design process, we got so excited that from 1 set we ended up with 3 stamp sets and 3 dies!!
Most important: SugarPea Designs will be donating 20% of all proceeds from the sale of Caring Hearts stamp sets & dies to the Alzheimer Association.
I'm so proud to introduce Caring Hearts, Caring Critters and Kindness set. For my 1st card, I used the pug from Caring Critters and combined it with previously released SugarPea Designs sets. Since Caring Hearts Card Drive is all about holiday cards, I have to make at least 1 card with holiday theme. :)
Now, for my next two cards, I want to focus on being kind. When we design the sets, we want to cover kindness in general. We want sets that can be used throughout the year. Growing up & basically to this day, I never really know what I want to be. All I know I want to be a kind person and I remember before going to college asking my mom, would you be proud of me if I don't become a doctor or engineer. What if all I am good is for social work? And, my mom said, that she couldn't be prouder and that the person inside is more important than any title, degree or richness. And, I carry that with me.
If we can be anything, let's be kind!! Am also entering this card for the current Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.
After all, in my opinion, when you believe in the magic of kindness, you will continue to believe in doing good to others.

Absolutely gorgeous release and of course I think what you are doing as an AMAZING thing!! Having 2 distant elderly family members and 2 local... 1 of which is in a home... I can ONLY begin to imagine what joy this most bring to everyone that receives them! Happy to see the sets selling out so quickly, but sad for me!!! This will be my first card drive and I am happy to spread the love with you!

Thank you. I have been making cards for 2 years now, and have been having a ball. It all started for me at Christmas with a pack of cardstock and one pack of die-cuts. Every time I walked by the kitchen table, I got another idea. And I was off.... I learned about Caring Hearts last year, and am glad to have a place to send my overproduction stack of Christmas cards. Really, wouldn't you think I would know how many I need before I start? In general, twice as many as the number of people I actually know! I am looking forward to sharing again this yeqar. Thanks for making it so much fun.

These are tremendously sweet cards! I love the rainbow-hued heartbeat and the gentle lion. He reminds me of the Cowardly Lion but here, instead of courage, I think he is thinking of KINDNESS.

I can't wait to make some cards. Will I make 100 to win the top prize? Yes, in my dreams! LOL In reality, I know 100 is a ton of cards and I would have to somehow make 100 of the exact same cards to do 100. There is no way I can do it and to those who do, you deserve to win that big prize and I so totally admire you. The cards you made are so adorable! I love the sentiments and I may have to order them. I haven't made enough Christmas cards yet for friends but I can always make some extra for a good cause. It's been a terrible summer with my broken foot so it would be so great if I could win something. My dad was in a nursing home 2 years ago and I know he would have loved this. He's home now and we hope he doesn't have to go to one again.
Oh my gosh, this new stamp set and the sentiments are so great! The Christmas card is so adorable! I've made Candy Cane cookies and I've colored Candy Canes. They are so much fun! The monkey and the envelopes are so cute! The colors of the envelopes which all card makers need tons of are so colorful and you used yellow, which is my favorite color. That adorable lion with the heartbeats is a great card. I would love to have any and all of these cards in my mailbox.
