Reverse Confetti Summer Fun Blog Hop

Hi peeps! Welcome to Reverse Confetti Summer Fun blog hop. We have lots of fun projects to share with you today, so let' get on to it, shall we?

It is three digit weather here in Texas. To say that it's so freakin' hot is an understatement. Although, I do know that there are other places in the world that has seven higher temperature than what we in Texas have.

Anyway, I see summer as the time where TV land trying out new TV show. So, I turned to my ever precious Silhouette for non-card project that I could make that related to TV.

Lucky me, I saw this retro TV that is perfect for what I have in mind.

Tada... Mr. Alligator can be your weather forecast reporter, giving report of your summer forecast. Or, he could be the next heartthrob with his new TV show. Hah! :)

Reverse Confetti SFYTT27

Gee whiz... can you believe it's already August?? Sometime it really amaze me how time could fly by so fast nowadays.

With us being the first day of August, we have new Reverse Confetti SKETCH FOR YOU TO TRY.

And, here's my card based on this sketch. The rare moment where I did quite a few layers on a card. :)

I thought the triangle patterned paper is perfect to do paper piecing on this alligator from Later Alligator set.

Anyhoo.... short one. It's been a long day and I have another long day today. We're moving to new office, so the past couple days I've been busy packing and moving. And, today, weekend is just the time to clean, unpack and settle in, so Monday business could go on as usual. Enjoy your weekend, peeps!

You Are My Happy

I am enjoying guest designing for Reverse Confetti this month and I want to share this card featuring the cute puppies from Reverse Confetti Puppy Love set.

Can you see that the puppies are enjoying a romantic dinner? Hah! This set is one of my favorite Revere Confetti set and I am glad that I get to take it out for a play. The sentiment is from All About You set.

I kind of excited over the fact that the doily match the doily banner patterned paper from My Mind's Eye Just Splendid paper pad. A little banner decor,glittery bows and a bowl of bones, my puppies are ready to celebrate. :)

Countdown To Confetti - Day Three

For someone who loves to travel, there's something about the globe that makes me excited. I guess for me, the globe represent a world of possibility, a world of adventure. We have one big globe in hubby's office and am thinking of getting a small one for the living room.

Well, while contemplating that decision, Reverse Confetti steal my heart with their latest release. They mix in a heart with  the globe! Dude..., that's brilliant. 

Yep, on our final Reverse Confetti sneak peek day, I am excited to showcase the Globe Confetti Cut, and My World stamp set.

For the heart, I add some texture using the Woodgrain Confetti Cut. I think this set would be so awesome for a scrapbook layout. Hoping to play with it and make a layout soon.

Countdown to Confetti - Day One

Eepss.... I am so excited to be sharing sneak peeks this month as a "Fetti Friend" for Reverse Confetti! I love their fun products! I have had the pleasure of meeting the owner & some of the girls from the team and they're simply awesome. So thrilled to get to work with this fab ladies!

Let's get on to the Reverse Confetti sneak peeks! There are so many goodies packed into this month's release, just you wait and see. :)

For my card today, I'm showcasing the Later Alligator stamp set and coordinating Later Alligator Confetti Cuts.  I started by partially die-cutting the alligator.  I then trim the panel and colored the images.  I added a wide strip of patterned paper to the card base, then add the card panel and also the cloud from Weather It Together set.

I Woof You

Whenever I see stamp set with cute doggies, I act like when a dog sees squirrel. I got all excited. That's what happened when I saw the adorable Reverse Confetti Puppy Love set. I was like, "Puppppyyyy!!" Chase. Hah! Okay, maybe not chase, but I did get it right away. :)

And, today I am using them with Reverse Confetti sketch #20.

Here's my puppy love card.

On purpose, I didn't glue the ears, so they can be flop forward. It just more fun that way, don't you think?

Embrace The Moonlight

With the news of PC closing down soon, I was feeling melancholy and spent some time browsing through my submission folders. And, looking through some of my submission stuff, I realized that I never shared any of my project from PC Cool Tools 2014 edition. Of course, I have to correct that, right?

Here is my favorite project in this fun issue. I just love the way the red popped against the blue background. And yes.. of course.. the birds. I love projects with birds. :)

Here's a peek into the pile of almost 3000 cards on my dining table. We rarely use our dining room as hubby and I usually just use our breakfast table for dinner, so... dining room turned into mailing room.

There are tons of gorgeous cards! I think whoever got these cards will be smiling ear to ear when they open it. It truly warms my heart seeing the support that you all pour into this card drive. Thank you so much for supporting us. 

I am sure, by this evening the collection number would change. Every day we received lots of packages. My goal is 6000 cards as I am hoping to support over 40 nursing homes. We can all dream big, right?

You Make Me Smile

Lately I wasn't much in the mood for card making. I guess I am  going through one of those creative slump. So, to get my mojo going, I've been spending lots of time browsing. And... right before we were going to watch movie, I saw this Runway Inspired Challenge pic from the Bottega Veneta collection. 

So, I told hubby to postpone the movie and give me half hour to make a card. He knows I've been feeling blah with my card making lately, so he's happy to oblige. :) And, I whipped up this quick, feminine card.

This card is sooo airy!! I think I normally go for brighter colors, but now & then I guess it's  good to do soft.

Gallery Idol Round 3

This round started as a real challenge. Of course I have used stencil before, but I want to come up with something that's outside the box. Friday passed with no inspiration whatsoever. Saturday, I had a couple ideas, but worried one might be too complicated. So, I tried to make this colorful geometric panel instead andddd... ditched it. Although, I did end up using that card for other assignment. Nothing go to waste. ;)

Then I went back to that idea that I thought was too complicated. I was thinking about creating a painting like image using stencil. I ran my idea to Trinh, who's been my sounding board through this journey (and the previous GI journey back in 2010) and when she said yes, that's cool, I went to work and came up with this.

Seriously, I am so proud of this card. From, what was I thinking, you're nuts, (took me 5 times to get it right) it has became wow, I can't believe I actually did it.

I made my own stencil for the whole thing. Using Silhouette I made stencil of the girl silhouette, the butterflies and the diagonal stripes. The honey comb stencil is from Memory Box. 

I start by tracing the girl stencil on the card panel, just the hair part, so I know where to place the butterflies. Then I inked the butterflies with various color ink using make up sponge. Once I inked all the butterflies, I stamped some with  a fine detailed flower from PTI Pretty Peonies set and some with Stampabilities Faded Text Background.

Then erase the pencil line, placed the girl stencil back on and using the mini sponge dauber inked the silhouette with Rangers Antique Linen, Spun Sugar, Shabby Shutters (mixed with Memento Pear Tart). Then without removing the stencil, stamp the Pretty Peonies. Added some small splatter details using the ink splatter from Mama Elephant Fair Feathers set. Here's a close up of the card. Once that done, I decided the panel still need a bit more umph..., so I decided to make a couple of the butterflies pop by adding an actual butterfly die-cut and add a bit of texture to the panel using Memory Box Honey Comb stencil & embossing paste. While waiting for it to dry, I stencil the diagonal stripe on one side of the card base and wiped solid ink on the other side. Finished by adding the sentiment & adhering the panel to the card base.

The whole thing is so pretty and bright. It totally makes me happy. I sure hope to make it to the next round. At the end, I am just thrilled that this challenge has made me create a project that I am proud of. Yes, it took hours and hours to get it look the way I want it, but the satisfaction when you accomplish something that you thought might not be possible is so worth it.
