Happy Friday

Happy Friday, fabulous peeps! How are you today? I feel like I've been in creative mood lately. I made quite a few cards this week that I am very happy with the result. I guess, knowing that I won't be making cards for a couple weeks while I am gone for my Christmas trip, makes me want to make card a lot more lately.

I am so thrilled to see my Christmas card HERE is featured on CARDS quick & simple Christmas card challenge. That just made my day. Here's another variation of the card. Still simple & quick.

Challenges:
A Spoonful Of Sugar - christmas, Dutch Dare - christmas
Little Red Wagon - die cuts,  Stampavie and More - christmas
Stampin' Royalty - winter holidays,  Paper Take Weekly - christmas in non-traditional colors

And, I have another card. Taking a break from Christmas card, I made a birthday card for this week Mami Doodles "Anything Goes" challenge. I'm using one of my favorite image from Mami Doodles, Madeline Bakes A Cake. And, yep... I'm going all in with bright, cheerful colors.

Challenges:

The DT created some awesome, awesome projects, go check them out HERE. And, I hope you will join us in this fun challenge.

Folks, a week from now, I should be landing in Jakarta and be with my mom and brothers. I am excited, okay... a bit nervous, too. Long flight always makes me a bit nervous. With stop & transfer the whole trip is about 27 hours. This would be my first transfer through Moscow. Hah... too bad I can't bring all my cards stuff so I can just make cards during the flight. LOL, I can just imagine if my glitter spills on the person next to me, oopss... sorry I covered you with glitters. Yeah, don't think they'd appreciate that. :) I hope they have good movies on board!

Anyway, my blog will be a bit empty during that trip. I"ll try to have some post scheduled, but you know how it is with scheduled post, sometime they go up with no glitch and sometime they don't. Well, a few more hours to the weekend! Have a blast Friday! Cheers....

Mami Doodles & Caring Hearts Card Drive

Today is Mami Doodles day. We have new "CHRISTMAS" challenge for you and this new challenge is in support of Caring Hearts Card Drive. Elisa (creator of Mami Doodles) has many cute winter, Christmas or winter images and she's also one of the sponsor for the card drive.

There are many prizes for the card drive, from Lawn Fawn, Hero Arts, Paper Crafts, etc., and many, many others. Please consider joining in and you have till November 15 to mail in the cards. You can send Thankgiving, Christmas or Holidays wishes. The mission of this card drive is simply to brighten other people's holiday through the simple gesture of thoughtfulness.

I chose to focus on the elderly in nursing homes or care center in honor of my parents & grandparents. They didn't live in nursing homes, but they did feel the loneliness now & then. For that matter, I feel the loneliness each holiday simply because I am away from my mom & my brothers. My thought is I have my husband, in-laws, friends around me and I can feel the loneliness, the elderly in  the nursing homes most likely feel it even more. Nothing can ever replace being with your family or being at your own place.

The result of this thought is the card drive. We make cards almost every day, why not share our love for card making to cheer others, even if they're strangers to us, right? :)

This long card is inspired by Tanis' card from Caardvark's DT. I love this long shape. It's fun  to break away from the typical card shape once in a while.

This weekend I plan on making more cards for the card drive. I got some new Thanksgiving stamp, so will be working on that. Before I go, here's a cutie patootie Halloween tag I made for my niece. Love the spider web! :)

Challenges:
Pixie Dust Studio - fall theme
Creative Cottage - halloween
Stampin' Royalty - halloween
Karber Weekly - digi stamp & halloween

Thank you all for stopping by and have a blessed Friday. Cheers!

Happy October 1st! How are you all wonderful peeps doing? I just want to say I loooovveee Grey's Anatomy. Some of the exchange they said or some of the thoughts can be so thought provoking. Now that my favorite show back on (yes, I can't believe I missed the premiere, but I caught up online), my Thursday night 8-9pm is reserved for Grey's. A little break for my nightly card making.

Last season ended in such a blast, that I  can't wait to see what this season will bring. So far, I do love what I am seeing. Any of you a big Grey's fans? I'm telling ya... one of the best show on TV!

For this card I used a flip version of FTL109 sketch. The picture didn't show it too well, but the coral background has the text impression on it. Check out all the DT fabulous ceations here.

Short post today. Have lots of things to do. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.... Vera.

CARDS & "BOO"

I feel like a yoyo with my health lately. One day good, next day could be crappity crap. I am usually very healthy and rarely get sick. This past year been very frustrating for me to be sick a lot. I usually try not to talk about being sick a lot on my blog. But this past couple week, it's been quite a struggle for me as I just don't feel quite 100% well. Every time I think ooh... I am much better, bam... it happen again. I have doctor appointment today and will get some test done. Hopefully they can tell me something!!

Anyway, last night, the super sweet Trinh, sent me an email that totally made my day better. Thank  you, Trinh! She emailed me to congratulate me for having this card on the first page of CARDS blog. And, I didn't even know. I thought the post usually go on Friday, so totally wasn't expecting it. This is the 2nd time my card get picked by CARDS. Love happy news.

Challenge: CPS - sketch
Crafty Calendar - blue and optional to use flowers
Scrappy Frog - flower power

And, I did managed to complete this card for my DT work for Mami Doodles challenge. This time the theme is to make "Boy card with the color red". When I saw this Li'l Devil, I thought he's so cute! I cut out the image & popped it on yellow circle carstock, so it looks like he walks during the full moon. Cut the bats & sentiment using Silhouette. For the background I used my oldie stars stamp. Check out Mami Doodle blog for challenge, prize detail, & inspirations from the other DT member.

Challenges: Stampin Royalty - stitching
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - faux or real stitching

And, tomorrow, my brother will be here!! We're planning a road trip to New Orleans for a couple days and I am simply looking forward for some down time & enjoying my brother's company. I am so glad he's coming, as you remember I was feeling homesick a couple weeks ago. His visit is much needed for me. Will posted about our trip sometime next week after we come back.

Have a great Friday and join us on this fun Mami Doodles challenge! Also, quick reminder, you have till midnight tonight to enter Wee Memories "Fall Into Autumn" challenge. Thanks for stopping by peeps. Hugs, Vera.

A couple cards

TGIF, peeps!! I {heart} long weekend. Plenty of time to chill out & be crafty.

This week been a great blessed week for me. My week start with Hero Arts tweeted my card, my tutorial being featured at Love My Tapes, then yesterday, I found out that I won the mystery blog candy giveaway from Simply Flourishes here. Thank you, Jennifer for your generosity! Can't wait to see what goodies I got.

And, last but not least, I am delighted to announce that I am joining Kathy Martin's Digital Doodles DT. I love her clean and simple design and am looking forward to this new adventure.

Okay, I have new Mami Doodles sketch challenge for you. Check out the blog for challenge & prize details.

We get to work with this super cute image of Madeline Bakes A Cake. As soon as I saw the image, I fell in love with it right away. She just looks so cute. Simply loved it!! Reminds me of my niece when she was younger. I have this pic of her wearing an apron & a chef's hat. Even the name is the same. :)

I am also entering this card for Your Next Stamp "Anything Goes" challenge. I love the image so much, I ended up using the same image again for another card. I was so inspired last night that actually I completed 3 cards. But, I'll save the the other cards for other post. That way I have back up card for when I am swamp. :) I made this next card using Card Patterns Sketch 79.

I used Love My Tapes washi tapes to create the stripe panel. Then I taped the washi tape on a piece of white cardstock and adhere the clear button on top of it. I haven't use my clear button for awhile. Sometime I just forgot what embelishments I have eventhough it's right in front of me.

This Sunday, I will have the pleasure of meeting a blog friend, Trinh. I met her through Hero Arts Flickr group, she was my advisor during the Gallery Idol, & now we're in a couple DT together. So excited to finally meeting her in person. I am sure will be talking cards a lot. Peeps, I hope you have a super duper great long weekend! Be safe & enjoy your weekend. Hugs....

Happy Friday!!

Hi peeps! Aren't you glad it's Friday? I do. I've been brainstorming a bunch for some scrapbook layouts, so I am ready to play. Ready to play, but don't know about completing the page. LOL. I get distracted so easily and then somehow when it comes to scrapbooking, I keep questioning myself whether that's the paper I really want to use, or is this the right stickers, etc.

I guess that's why I've been making card a lot more lately than scrapbooking. When it come to scrapbook, I am pretty hard on myself. Goal for this year is to change that attitude. Meanwhile here's a card I  made for Mami Doodles Challenge 7. This week it's very easy challenge. ANYTHING GOES!

Somehow the color of this pic come out really funny. My beloved Canon G9 went kaput. I am debating whether I should get a new camera or just fix it as I really loved my G9. One of the best camera, ever. Most likely I'll just have it fix.

OK peeps, short post. Don't have much to say. :) Have a great Friday! Hugs, Vera.

Mami Doodles Li'l Alex

Happy Friday! Today, I have a new card using the new digi stamp from Mami Doodles. This weeks Mami Doodles challenge is to make a Summer time card/project. I also made this card for Jennifer McGuire's Card for Kids Drive. Here's the card:

For this card I use the new digi stamp Li'l Alex from Mami Doodles (you can get him here). There's also Li'l Luke with a fishing pole.
If you click on the picture of the card above, you can see the card better and you can probably see all those itty bitty beads border. I told you on yesterday's post how I have to dug my old stash to find some rafia; well, while digging trough those stash, I also found the itty bitty beads. Glass beads used to be a trend, too in scrapbooking. I remember using them for my classes at the LSS. Yes, it was eons ago. :)

Check out all Elisa's new stamps at Mami Doodles blog and  please join us for the challenge. You'll have a chance to win some of Elisa's beautiful images. Thank you all for stopping by. I'll be back with a second post later. Hugs, Vera.

Mami Doodle & Paper Play Challenge

Update: Just found out that I made the Gallery Idol Top 20!!! 262 designers, 901 card and my simple card made it. Oh my gosh, I am shaking with excitement and yes, a bit nervous. The other girls are soooo good. I don't know whether to do happy dance or go to the bathroom and throw up. You'll get to vote whether I can go to the next round or not. Just like American Idol. That's it... I need to stop shaking. :)

Below  my original post:

It's Friday!! Yay... can't wait for the long weekend. I LOVED long weekend. Hoping to get lots of things done on top of having movie day as well. I want to see Prince of Persia! The preview looks so cool. Hoping the movie will be as good as I am hoping.

Today, I have new challenge for you. This time Mami Doodles is teaming up with Paper Play Week 21 Challenge, together we have this challenge "Up In The Air". For my card I used the owl from Mami Doodles' The Owl Family set. You'll get 2 images on this set.

This is the card that I mentioned on my post yesterday. My very first card that have real stitching! Nice pat on the back for me. LOL.

And yes, I know it's not super straight. I am usually pretty strict to have things super straight, but considering my sewing skills, I cut myself some slack. I am not pushing my luck on this. I am happy that I didn't mess up the papers. :)

This card works great for me as I can enter it for several challenge. So happy when it can works like that. :) I am entering this card for:
Wee Memories Challenge 7 - Sky's The Limit.
Simon Says Stamp challenge - Blue/pink with green and brown
CAStastic CWC005 - A touch of green

So, you get anything plan this weekend? I have list going on. Hubby is working on renovating the master shower (I supervised, LOL), Operation Write Home blog hop, reading Fable Heaven last book, clean the house, clean my scrapbook room (hopeless...), finalizing our vacation reservation, and some more other stuff. Hope you all have a super duper great weekend and if you take a trip, be safe! Happy Memorial day weekend. Hugs, Vera.

Mami Doodles Monochromatic challenge

Oh my goodness, my Friday morning start wonderfully with an email from the super talented Laura Vegas. She said to check her blog as I might see something that I like. I checked the email to see if she cc anybody else, and thought, hmm this just for me. And I recently entered her giveaway for CK Fast & Fresh Scrapbook. Crossing my finger, I checked her blog and yay!!!, I won! :) Sooo happy.

And yes, I am such a dork, I asked her if she could sign it before she mail it out. LOL. What can I say, the dork side of me won. :) I am a huge fan of her. Her style is clean and fun. Thank you, Laura!

I am the type of person that doesn't take things for granted. I am grateful to say that I've been really blessed. I won little things here and there. They're little but they're stuff  that I like, so I am happy. I won Scrapbooks, Etc. giveaway last year, this year Stampendous catalog giveaway, cute Willow stamp from Paper Play challenges, and now this. All I can say, my scrapbook & card making world bring me so much happiness.

Now, let's move to card. Have you checked Elisa's Mami Doodle site lately? She just released  a couple fabulous new digital stamp. If you're looking for the stamp, just scroll down her blog for the latest.

We have new challenge for you this week. This time Mami Doodles challenge is monochromatic. This is what I created for the challenge.

I used "Lucy with balloon" for the card. For €2.00 (about US $2.50) you get 2 images in this set. One is Lucy with plain dress and the other one has little decoration on her dress. I thought Lucy looks adorable. I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and added glossy accent on the balloons.

I always love doing monochromatic challenge. What about you? I hope you can join us and play the challenge. To enter, you can use whatever stamps you want. That make it even easier, right? You have 2 weeks to enter the challenge, so that should give you plenty of time. Looking forward to your creation. Have a happy Friday, Vera.

Mami Doodles Challenges

Hi y'all. How are you today. Finally, last night I feel like I get my mojo back a bit. Lately, I just been not feeling too well, and just didn't quite have the excitement that I normally have for making cards. I mean, I literally have quite a few new stamps that I just haven't even really play with. Hopefully, with me feeling better, I'll be back to my old self. :)

Let's start, shall we. Today I want to show you the latest digital stamp from mami Doodles. Elisa is just so talented and all she wants is for us to have fun while presenting her stuff. With the stuff that she came up with, it sure is easy to have fun. This particular image, she made it per my request.

I have this thing for snail. No, not the actual snail, but the image of snail. LOL. It first start when I found Suzy's Zoo. Love, love her stuff! I visited their corporate office in San Diego twice! And yes, that's my dream office. Wall full of cute drawings. I even named my pug, Ollie based on one of her characters.

Okay, okay, back to the snail story. One of Suzy's Zoo character is a snail. Then, when I was in Antwerp, Belgium, I found this cute snail stuff animal. From there, it just kind of love snail drawings. I even drawed one that actually made it into Suzy's Zoo newsletter magazine back in the day. So, I mentioned it to Elisa that it would be so lovely to have cute snail stamps.

And, Elisa came up with this Escargot set. Just adorable. What I did to make this card is simply flip the snail with the flower image so it's facing right instead of left. Here's my 1st card using Kazan's sketch:

The snail on the left, I layered it and I did on purpose resize the top layer just slightly smaller to create the illussion of movement. I thought it works pretty well. What do you think? Does it look like it moves, or it just my imagination? Could be that. :)

Now, for my second card, I resize the snails very small, since I want the "Best Friends" to be the main focus. I had so much fun coloring them. You can get them here.

I hope you'll join us for  our 2nd challenge. Go to Mami Doodles blog to check all the detail. The challenge is to create anything with garden theme and use at least 1 ribbon (which I missed, sorry about that). It can be any project and you don't have to use any of the images from this shop. You have till midnight, Wednesday 12th. Leaving comments on Mami Doodles blog, also give you a chance  to win prize. Go check it out!
I am looking forward to see what you come up with and don't forget to check out all the other Mami Doodles DT member created. As always, these girls amazed me.

You have anything plan this weekend? It's national Scrapbook Day! I am so hoping to complete a couple scrapbook pages (see, I am realistic, I said a couple not some), if my lazyness doesn't kick in. Hah... I am hoping for productive, but relaxing weekend and wish you all a happy weekend. Thanks for stopping by. TGIF!

Mami Doodles "Midori"

Today, I am unveiling my work as Mami Doodles DT member. You definitely need to check Mami Doodles blog. Oh my gosh, I was speechless when I saw what the other girls created. They're stuff are so awesome. I am in awe by their talents. I have so much to learn from them.

One of their digital stamp, is this one called Midori. You can get her here. The price is soooo reasonable. You'll get a few variation from this 1 set. If you see what the other girl created, you'll be so inspired. I am thinking of making one for wall display like Elisa (Mami Doodles) did.

We also have a color challenge going that I hope you will join. Please join and you can win  free stamps. You can find the detail here. Also, from my part, if you join the challenge and left a comment here that you join the challenge (add your blog link, so I can see your work), I will send you some goodies, too, that will include some of the cards I have made and some other surprise.

The challenge is to create a card using the color combo inspired by the picture I found here

And here's the card that I made for the challenge.

It's basically a hybrid card. Midori is digital stamp, the rest is Papertrey Ink & Stampendous stamp. The tree branch and the bird is from Quickutz Silhouette colored with Copic. Extra glitters and glazed diamond here and there. So, what you think?

Please leave a comment and if you have any suggestion for digital stamp please doo so and I will let the talented Elisa knows. Happy Friday, peeps! Hugs, Vera.

Mami Doodles DT

I am so excited to announce that I've been selected to be in Elisa's Mami Doodles design team. Mami Doodles was started by Elisa who likes to create digital stamps. And, I got selected to be in the design team, purely by chance and luck. :)

Elisa was just blog hopping, checking out different blog and she found my blog from one of the challenge I entered. She fell in love with my style and out of the blue, I got this email asking me if I'd be interested to be in her design team. For me, that was such a huge compliments and I am excited to be part of her team.

The next few months should keep me busy being in 2 design teams. Both companies have beautiful stamps to work with, but each quite different in style. So, there should be plenty of images to play with.

Here's a sample of Mami Doodle's stamp. First, I cut a Bo Bunny's dot paper for background and cut a hole in the middle. I attached this to the card base using pop dots. Also, for extra element, I added the dandellion cut with Silhouette. I colored the girl & the cat with Copic markers, I cut around her image and glued her on top of the circle opening.

I don't usually work with bright colors, so using this lime green background was quite a bit outside my comfort zone. But, I think it come out pretty good. You can see all the goodies available at Mami Doodles starting on Thursday, April 15, 2010. We will also have challenges that you can enter. Hope you can join us. Hugs, Vera.

CPS 159 challenge

Just a quick post. Made this card for CPS 159 challenge. This card totally reflect my style. I just love the clean look of it. :)

Got this cute bunny from Mami Doodles, you can get them here. And, I had so much fun coloring it with my Copic markers.

You recognize that flowers? If you saw my previous post, I made a card using the same flowers. This beautiful flower is one of the Hero Arts design that Silhouette offers. The only different, on the previous card, I used the middle part of the set. On this one, I use the left and right side and save the middle part for another card. Hope that makes sense. :)

Okay, short post for today. Don't want my husband to think I am ignoring him! LOL. You all have a great evening. Hugs, Vera

Patchwok Boo

Hi there. Am popping up to share this cutie patootie ghost courtesy of Spellbinder's Felt Patchwork Boo Etched Dies by Nichol Spohr . I...
